Gee, that's not so good Jackie. I saw on the weather channel they reckoned a lot more to come too. Fingers crossed they aren't right... I see they're copping the snow in the US now too.
Ross, It's on it's way believe me .The flood we had here last week has reached St George.
Hey Alision, my foot bridge at Conondale has been washed down river >:(
We will have to go up when we can get into the property and find it!

last seen going down stream.
Looks like we're going to go under tomorrow :'( me thinks its time to call the calvery in......
Please lets not mention sailing :( I'm still wondering where all the snakes are hiding :D ;D

Just sending our thoughts and well wishes and hoping that Doc, Brad and Wayne ore all ok with the flooding in Brisbane. Thoughts and prayer to the families in Toowoomba who have lost family and belongings. Does anyone know if Steve and Allison are anywhere near the fires in WA? Hope they are ok.Thanks Ray. My family is all good thanks, even though we live on a flat property, no flooding. I just need to get out and earn some money!

Amazing and sickening images on the news bulletinsHow lucky was the bloke holding on to the tree to stop being swept away that was rammed by the floating van? If you haven't seen it, watch for it on the news, he's a lucky fella that the tree was strong enough to resist the weight of the van. A fraction earlier it'd mowed another tree over like it wasn't there.
Had a clean up again yesterday arvo,so there arent as many flammable items around the house.
Be prepared they say.
This wind will kill anything if it had a 500+ metre spark front.
We're up to our bums in water but we're ok .
From what I can see on the radar it's still bloody raining!
I've been reading that Wivenhoe is well over capacity and shedding water like crazy, while the flood containment area is now over half full.

I've been reading that Wivenhoe is well over capacity and shedding water like crazy, while the flood containment area is now over half full.i took the kids out to see all 5 flood gates open before christmas as it's pretty rare they open and the water flowing through the gates then was truely awesome.

it must be friggin scary now!
Hmmmm.... Flood gates full open. Major flooding and rainfall in the lockyer valley. King Tide (?). Major rainfall in Brisbane.
Hate to say it doesn't look good for Brissie :o :o. If I was a gambling man I'd be betting on higher than '74 levels. Make sure you stay high and dry Brisbanites - take care.
I'm surprised they don't shut the CBD down ,as its less of a concern and SES resources can be utlised else where.its happening right now in the lower lying areas.
cheers A
Makes the once in 100 years flooding we had in SA a few weeks ago look like a trickle.

Hoony,
It has not Been on the news as a problem area,it appears to be only the inner city suburbs of Bris that are a possible worry

Regards Stan.
Any one know how vandy is ?vandy's all good.
Yeah sh** just saw SA's predicted weather. Not looking good either for the comming days. Better not be as bad as it was in December :'( i had heard that there was a long range forcast for storms like we had in December for early january but i thought it was for last week and had been and gone.It wont get much media coverage ,though there is nothing quiet awesome as the sexual revolution of flora and fauna in our Australian outback after a big rain 8)
Hey Doc are you feeling ok ?? you have the word KAWASAKI on your aviator !! ;D
should be an and inbetween aunty and passenger~!I'm sure we all know you are offering help,no matter where or whom too !!

Jackie mac and Garys house will be under by now, both cars will be goneWith Jackie Mac being a photographer and knowing how they're pack rats keeping everything, I hope Jackie managed to save her photo negs, prints and old school film archives. The digi stuff is most probably safe in a computer but the old school stuff takes up a shitload of room. I was looking through my own archives this morning and I realised he many thousands of shots I''ve got and I'm not a proper photographer. It took us a whole day to move Bill Forsyths archives recently so even if Jackie has 5% of Bills stuff, it'll still be heaps.

I was planning to go to Classic dirt 8, but l have been told that l am not aloud to go this yearCome on Dave...you'll have a ball. Tell her to ring me and I'll convince her to let you come! ;)
mark, last year l said to my wife that we won`t be having any holidays in 2011 and we will plan for one in 2012, not thinking about cd8 so yesterday l put the dates on the calender and l said that l would like to go to cd8, well that went down like a lead balloon, anyway classic scramble club has a racing on the same weekend at Harrow l will to that instead support the club.
Number 8
I will look into it, meeting stan ,now that is a worry.
we think the trees around the house may have prevented that,
Strangely still smiling :)

Jackie, did you get all of your photo archives out before the water came? Good luck with the rebuilding. We're thinking of you and everyone else up there.
almost surreal eh Pokey, I don't subscribe much time to many conspiracy theories but they certainly make you think, things we never thought possible are now taken for granted..at about 3:50 the vid below get's a bit interesting :-\

Just re reading through this thread and watching currant affair- the blame game has begun. :-\Someone must be to blame because we all know that a 74 flood could never happen again.
Very interesting Doc,wether its a conspiracy or not!!.Its not taken into account the environment or geographical areas that its going to land on. :o ,as is the case in Queenland you had already had seasonaly high rain fall, the ground was already sodden.
cheers A
A land of sweeping plains --yer right :o :-X
Hey Jackie, I just followed your thread on the other side and went to find your house in the floods- is that a hereford on the roof of your neighbours house???

There's a bbq at Jackies after the clean-up, lots of fresh steak!
Just kidding, it's not the only one to be found on a house so far as there was another in the local paper.

5 March 2011 - SA - Tailem Bend Motorsport Centre
27 March 2011 - NSW - Eastern Creek Raceway
The Rodeo's will consist of Motorcycle Gymkhana events, games and precision riding displays; are available for riders aged from seven years and over, and are open to all skill levels.
Is the Australian Federal Govt that tight for funds??Most governments in Australia are broke and now have little income. :o
Gillard could make her mark, Fix the flood areas, Build the Dams, make the pipelines or aquaducts from nth to south to west to support our farms. Cancel the $40 billion NBN and spend wisely on Rebuilding Flood areas.
This tax has nothing to do with the donations people have made, that money is for the people you have been affected by the flood.Aw come on NSR we all know that and nothing said here will make the slightest difference to the outcome, where,s your sense of fun.
This tax is a once-off for reconstruction of vital public infrastructure. One way or another we will all have to pay for it.
It does not matter if the PM has Red hair or big ears ::).
The future fund was for this type of problemSorry Mike the future fund was set up to pay public servants superannuation.

What do you mean fix, the flood area covered about 25 towns to fix most of them [to never flood] they would have to be moved.
And for gods sake educate the dude who controls the flow, would seem that not as many homes would have copped it if the dude on the gates pushed the button at the right time, Its a fine line between saving water and flood but they got it too wrong. This only has to happen over the next decade or so. Maybe some farmers do want the NBN, but it will not be too useful if there is no water for them... I have no prob paying more tax to help QLD, hope they get the balance correct between public infrustructure and private...

Hold on to your hats. (And check your policies)
If there is indeed a god, he must be punishing Queenslanders for Joh and Pauline ;D. ;)
Just checked the scope and it's the same size as Katrina that hit New Orleans. over 1800 died in that though I suspect in a much more populated area.

No, Joh and Pauline were THE PUNISHMENT. ;)

QLD wasnt broke when joh was in charge nothing wrong with graft and corruption as long as the rest of the job was done ;D
Copping a shite load of rain from you northerners this morning.......damn house gutters cant keep up! :D
All good here, although I still have no power. I do have my generator thumping away though , to run my fridge & TV (also my neighbours fridge & freezer as well). I have to say that was a very scary experience, with the wind coming in bursts that sounded like a jumbo jet taking off at the end of my street & my house shuddering & groaning. I consider myself very lucky to have no damage other than some uprooted trees. I hope Greg Lewis at Bingil Bay ( near Mission Beach), is ok.Good to here mate.
Hope this never happens again in Australia's historyurm.. which? Sydney hailstorm in '99, Newcastle earthquake in '89? Cyclone Tracy in '74? the Tassie fires in '67? or do you mean the massive floods in Brisbane back in '74? Just trying to understand which thing you are referring to! (and that is just the stuff I was around for)

Got back into the house today :o :o :o the ceiling was on the floor, along with 3 inches of mud, the place was a shit fight (can I say that on the forum) funny thing the cars were in the exact same spot we left them in, our property was untouched by large floating objects, we think the trees around the house may have prevented that, the shed hmmm ugly! but Gaz got on to the bikes straight away. Took heaps of piccies unfortunately can't find the attachments to download to the computer, I think I grabbed the wrong bag ::). We salvaged the little mans (grandson) teddy bears and we also found his wallet with his pocket money still in it :D ;D clothes, well thats a real problem, looks as though I'll have to go shopping :D ;D killed a brown snake, and was fed by our little angel Denise, what a day.Just wondering how it all went for you guys.
Strangely still smiling :)

It'll be ready in time for next years deluge.Last night's ABC News reports that it is predicted that the El Nino effect will be 'normal' for the next few years and extreme weather conditions are not expected ;).

Long live the Queen ;D
Last night's ABC News reports that it is predicted that the El Nino effect will be 'normal' for the next few years and extreme weather conditions are not expected
Conditions in the tropical Pacific Ocean are consistent with the early stages of a late-forming La Niña event. If the current cooling persists, as is expected, then 2011-12 will be recorded as the second La Niña in as many years. Current observations and model predictions indicate that this La Niña is likely to be weaker than the strong 2010-11 event.
La Niña events raise the odds of above average rainfall across northern and eastern Australia, but do not guarantee it. Oceans surrounding Australia’s north are currently close to or cooler than average, which is less favourable for widespread rainfall than at this time in 2010, when they were much warmer than normal. Similarly, the latest observations from the Indian Ocean show a positive dipole event. A positive dipole event increases the chance of below average rainfall over south-eastern and central Australia during spring.
