Interesting admission on the news tonight.
The powers to be admitted that Wivenhoe Dam had 2ft to go to the safety plugs .
Had they let go then things would have ended differently.
I wondered about the water level when watching the video of the dam.
Looked a bit high .

Top and bottom photos are from my wife's iphone. The second one is Jackie Mac's place.
The third one is hard to make out but there is a park bench half way up the tree.
Driving down to Jackies' place, it looked like a war zone. The houses were stripped inside completely. Just frame work and outer shells.

House after house after house.

All OK with me Brent ;) Elmore is on the higher sided bank (about three full metres which is pleasing) of the Campaspe river. Rochester is 14Kms down stream and has much lower river banks. These floods are coming from the overflowing spillway and controlled releases of the huge dam of  Lake Eppalock . Seems unbelievable that that very same dam lake was 14 months ago at .6  (Yes  .6) of capacity!!!! Thank you all so much for your concerns and cheers tim754.  Please donate something to flood relief ;)
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

I can't believe the fantastic community spirit that's come out of this disaster. Makes me proud to be an Aussie. :)

mark, last year l said to my wife that we won`t be having any holidays in 2011 and we will plan for one in 2012, not thinking about cd8 so yesterday l put the dates on the calender and l said that l would like to go to cd8, well that went down like a lead balloon, anyway classic scramble club has a racing on the same weekend at Harrow l will to that instead support the club.

David,

Change that "Holiday Rule" and bring her with you there's plenty to see and do around the Maleny,Montville area if she doesn't want to stand around watching the vintage thoroughbreds circulate,it's the only event my wife will come too because of yhe social aspect, hell she even met Stan last year for the first time, ;D

This link shows our roof, our block is the one that looks like a triangle at the end of Keith Street, it was taken on the 13th, the floods had already started to recede, if you zoom in you can see my car floating :o, it appears it was the tree that stopped it from escaping. Yesterday was a huge day thanks to Glenn and Michelle Wollenweber, Michael and Leonie Bamford, Tony and Barb Smith, Brad Van Barrelo, and Mege and Greg Miar what a fantastic bunch, heaps got done no slackers thankyou all. The salvo's came around and provided us with lunch, and then in the afternoon the red cross turned up with  boxes of stuff, toiletries and things, strangers offering help was constant throughout the day.   Garaham and Denise have been with us all the way through this, Denise has either been right beside me up to her neck in it, and if not beside me on the phone to make sure we're okay, The world really is a wonderful place, and I feel blessed to have such wonderful people in my life ;)

I hope that everyone down south made it to dry land and are safe and well.

To those that are lost, I pray that you will be found
To those that have lost loved ones or friends, my heart goes out to you,
forever in our thoughts.

Jackie
