My opinion is that The Lakes Club and HEAVEN would promote both era's. Venue is suitable for both so I would like to see both there but if it were to be split, again , both clubs would have no issues in promoting the Post 78 bikes.
In fact , HEAVEN is holding our "EVO Challenge" at the Lakes Track in August this year, so this would be a great opportunity for guys to come and ride the track for two days and get to know the track if we were successful in a bid for the Titles. Evo challenge caters for the Post 78 bikes.

This is a great revalation and would have Qld support I'm sure.
One question, is the track wide enough for three chairs to get around and fenced off for spectators so the sidecars can run.
Two questions, what time of year are we looking as the sidecar boys will be coming to Qld for the Sidecar Spectacular and hopefully we can join it all together in their journey north.

My opinion only in how I think the Nat's should run.
Wednesday would be practice a whole days worth run in 2 divisions pre 78 and over. In groups of 30 at a time. I know it's a pain in the ass to organise but it's worth it.
Thursday and Friday would be Pre 75 classes all age groups, those without sufficient entries bumped into the next age groups. Friday afternoon would be pre 78 classes.
Saturday can be EVO and Pre 80 plus side cars.
Sunday can be anything left over from previous days racing in the morning then a run what you like age groups with longer races so you can ride your 2011 525 KTM or your CZ 400, Maybe a small bore class?
Extra 40 min practise each morning for those who cant be there Wednesday and also different track conditions.
Current bikes. KTM MC 250 77 Husky CR 360 77, Husky 82 420 Auto Bitsa XR 200 project. Dont need a pickle just need to ride my motorcickle

Exactly. I'm in favour of splitting the Nats into two and running it over 2 days.
We're not sponsored riders paid to race and most of us have jobs to be at.

If most of you blokes sold your collections off at the right price you could still pick out your one fav bike and have enough live on without ever working again therefore becoming self sponsored play boy racers!!
You could race tuesdays right after golf and spend time with your fav girly on the week ends.

In reply to the chairs question, Lakes have run quads previously on the track, but I am not sure regarding chairs as I have not had anything to do with them before.
As for the time of year, well that hasn't really been discussed as yet but I am sure that there shall be quite a lot of discussion regarding this and taking into account other events. It would be nice to get a date that will suit everyone but unfortunately that is just unrealistic. Be rest assured though that if successfull, there shall be a lot of thought go into the date for the event.
As for format, well again early days yet but one possible scenario would be sign-on and scrutineering to start on Thursday and continue into Friday. Start practice on Friday and depending on time and numbers etc, either start racing on Friday arvo or first thing Saturday morning.
It is early days yet but if we can get the support of the VMX community early and get as many concerns raised as possible, then these can be dealt with in a timely manner. I believe that the geographic location of the venue is very positive in that it is half way for Vic & Qld riders, SA riders can cut across as well ( approx 16 to 18hrs). I nw that this is not as friendly for the SA guys as holding the event in SA, but unfortunately people will be required to travel. As for the WA guys, well again I feel for those that are required to travel long distances but if people get together and arrange shipping of bikes in containers etc and the abundance of cheap airfares these days it can make life a little more bareable. Plenty of accomadation within a 10 - 30 minute drive ( you can be in the centr of Newcastle in about 45minutes or the heart of the Hunter Valley wine country in 30 minutes), or camping available at the track. The track in only about 2hrs drive from Sydney airport as well. Great family location, so bring the whole gang and make a holiday out of it. If anyone has negative comments about the venue, please speak up early. Thanks.
Dan

One question
How many start gates do they have?
The location seems good to me. Hopefully they can fix a track that suits most.
As for racing mid week use a weeks holiday from work. alot of people will need most the week off anyway to travel etc so whats a few extra days?

the differance of leaving sund to get there for wed and then not getting back till tuesday to work wednesday.
IF you set up fri for a Sat/ sun race whats the Issue ?  IF you make it PRe 75 only , you wont have to piss oabout and Pad out the program of so many days.  2 days should be the most Racing time you actually need.  THen the rest of us can figure out how we use the 20 hours driving around or work hours.

Looks really sandy-is it? That would make a fantastic Dutch style circuit that could swallow some bikes and take the reiders with them. :D
Can you make some roller coaster style jumps that are easy to take off from and even better to land off for the older bikes and the outfits?
Looks the goods though.

To the pre '75s that's an up hill jump and a down hill jump isn't it?

Good to see an option on the table Dan, track looks great and i'm sure you'll be supported.

keep in mind it's not how many riders you can accomadate, it's the number of class's you have to fit in, as the Nats stand it's just possible to fit it in 3 days without changing any class's.

Good luck at what ever you decide, but dont listen to those sidecar guys too much as only 5 or 6 will turn-up ;D, sad but true!

Cheers Trev
