For future reference.

There is an aerial shot,I don't see a VMX track, though with 680 acres anything is a possibility.  8)
South Australia has a new motorsport venue with Tailem Bend Motorsport Park Pty Ltd announcing that it is now holding activities and events and accepting bookings, according to Manager Jo Malloy.

The Tailem Bend Motorsport Park is a new multi sport motorsport park. Motorcycling SA and the Sporting Car Club of SA have joined forces to establish the park under the auspices of CAMS and Motorcycing Australia.

“The Coorong District Council along with the Regional Development Australia Murraylands and Riverland Inc Board have worked closely with us to allow us the opportunity of developing an International Standard Motorsport Complex and Training Facility at the former Mitsubishi test track site”. Ms Malloy said.

The facility has successfully hosted a MotoTrial event, the Corporate Media Release of the new Porsche 911 Turbo, a special stage of the Clipsal 500 Rally Touring Road Event, Vehicle Component Testing as well as Advanced Driver and Rider Education Programs for not only local providers but also from companies from Queensland and Victoria.

“In the coming months we will see other activities including various Rallies, both on the dirt and the bitumen, Motorkhana's, Kanacross, Motorcycle Enduro, Drifting, Dealer Product Information days and Sprint Events as well as Advanced Driver/Rider Education Programs including Junior Development and Coaching Programs. Junior Development allows children to enter the motorsport arena in a controlled and safe environment.

“Although the name Tailem Bend Motorsport Park suggests that the facility is primarily used for motorsport activities, the site is suitable for many purposes and we have so much more to offer. The site is approximately 680 hectares that comprises a 1400 metre asphalt straight with a 80 x 80 metre skid pan that is capable of being irrigated with reticulating water and a variety of loop roads surrounding it. We have approximately 23 Kms of dirt and gravel roads and then another 350 untouched hectares.

“Tailem Bend Motorsport Park can assist anyone involved in a club, organisation, driver/rider training or corporate business who is looking for somewhere to enjoy motorsport, participate in a program that will improve your driving skills or hold corporate functions. If you are involved in a school and would like to explore the possibility of varied and practical education programs for your children to enjoy away from the class room atmosphere, we would welcome any opportunity to have your school and your children involved in this exciting project” Ms Malloy said.

For anyone wishing to become involved in the facility there are many opportunities to do so whether it be participating in a club event or activity as a driver/rider or perhaps becoming an official for either car or bike racing. Tailem Bend Motorsport Park welcomes any opportunity to have the public involved.

Any clubs or organisation can use the existing facilities and are invited to contact TBMP. CONTACT: Jo Malloy, Manager, on Tel 0407 795 729

Your prity much looking at the whole levis club there, the rest of the memebrs you never see.  Although i think murry williams might still be in levis ?
i did see him at the nats with the Goldstar and chair.  but hes the last of em.  the rest are mini bike mums.  your on a dead end.

We have to help them with there 1 round of the state Dt round and send officials. they could only do it if,  if they had one or 2 other clubs help them out.

As a member of Morgan motor cycle club & long time reader of this forum.
It has been read & discussed that you need a site for 2011 nats?
Morgan motor cycle club wants a expression of interest from any VMX personal
to discuss format.Prefer South Australian based.
There is a club day on 16/5/10 at Morgan
So bring your pre vmx & enjoy the ride in our [ROOTED] class all pre 85 or over 40.
Sidecars will mixed with moderns .
On tuesday 18/5/10 evening MMC will hold a general meeting to discuss nats proposal
its your best interest to have someone attend & promote your V M X

I WONT ENGAGE IN ANY E_MAIL WARFARE.

Phone Rob Schmidt 0418821755 for any positive feedback

Have I missed something here? What's all of this South Australia this, South Australia that stuff? Where did this Morgan club and Tailem Bend stuff come from? From what I know, none of those clubs have any relationship with VMX and in fact, I believe the Morgan club is essentially a sidecar club. There's something very weird happening here and I've got a feeling in my bones that it's not going to be a positive thing for the Nationals. Methinks there's been some mischievous lobbying going on.......... somebody prove me wrong. ;)

Morgan, along with Keyneton and Gawler would have been the clubs i would have suggested as they are some of the bigger more enthusiastic clubs. In my eyes Morgans offer is totally legitimate and there is no reason to think something fishy is going on, and no they are not just a sidecar club. Someone said its SA's turn to hold the nats so any club that wants to put their hand up needs to be supported, otherwise it may be another 10 years before its 'SA's turn' again because as you can see not many clubs have expressed much interest.
Wanted - 1978 TS185 frame or frame&motor. Frame # TS1852-24007 up to TS1852-39022

I can understand it being South Australias turn and I have no problems with it being there as the Tanunda and Pirie Nats were two of the best I attended. Tanunda was the last motocross Nats I rode so it has some sentimentality. Having said that, if the Nats are held in SA it'll pretty much have to rely on "imported" entries as there isn't a very strong local vintage population. I wonder how many Queenslanders would venture that far? And as it's pretty certain that the Nats will be split, which one would SA support? All hypothetical of course.

HEAVEN VMX Inc ran it's Round 3 event at the Lakes track on the weekend just gone. This track is located near Toronto (Newcastle) NSW. It is approx 1 hour on the F3 north of Sydney. In speaking with the Lakes Club over the weekend, they have expressed a very keen interest in hosting the 2011 VMX Nationals in conjunction with the HEAVEN VMX Inc club. They have already spoken with MA on the subject and are in the process of putting together a submission for the event. I am keen to hear people's thoughts on the Lakes track as a venue. From my experience of riding vmx at the track, and having HEAVEN events there over the last two years, this venue ticks all the boxes to host the Aussie VMX Nationals.
The club has lots of experience at running State and National titles for both seniorand junior categories and these events also far exceed the numbers that have been seen at the previous VMX Nationals.
The Lakes Club is hosting the Australian Junior Motocross Titles this year , with the expectation of 700+ riders. This they will handle with ease as it is nothing for the club to have 350 to 400 riders at a club day. They have a great committee who work very hard to ensure the facility is run professionally and are continually upgrading the facilities at the track. HEAVEN VMX Inc would be involved with the running of the event and I am sure that if successful in the bid to host the 2011 Titles, riders would not be dissapointed.
I have spoken with a number of HEAVEN riders who have ridden the Nationals in the past and they are of the opinion that the track is definately suited to all the era's of bikes that are run at the Nationals. Our current President, Carl Blecher, monsters his Triumph Metisse around this track and it is definately a sight ( and sound) to behold.
Let me know what people think? Cheers.
Dan

On the assumption that the Nats will be split, will HEAVEN cater for both factions or promote the pre '78-85 era class only? Whichever HEAVEN goes with, it's a great initiative and deserves everyones support. Good on ya's!
