Green never bothered this guy, what a rider.

Sorry guy's, it was a classic photo of the late Longtrack/Grasstrack/Speedway legend Simon Wigg, he loved is Green leathers, obviously it has been copywrited.

I was looking through my photos, trying to find a shot of a very early MCC of Canberra rider, when I came across this photo, It was taken at my return to racing meeting at Surfair Speedway, Moruya in '93 or '94, but the important thing to me is , it was taken by # 800, Don Greig, who has been mentioned on this thread, an A grader of the '70s who took up photography.

The notes on the photo were put on there by my son , Brian, # 453, a bloody good racer in his own right and has won the Glenn Gall Memorial race on his TT500C. Brian still owns the bike, also a TT500C, I am pictured on.

This photo in my humble opinion, is probably the most famous photo from Short Circuits history.
Courtesy of the man himself.
Can anyone tell me the story behind this image?
Not you Buckets, it's too easy for you.

I got this photo, courtesy Greg Summerton, from the JAP Engine facebook page, I would kill for an 8/80 engine !!

Foss

I swung on that bike for Tony west in one of the Ikon Grand slams ealier this year, well until the outfits upright snapped.  You would be surprised how much grunt that things got and its not a ringing vibration its more a pulling rumble.

Fun bike but get it wrong something that heavy ontop of ya, well some less fortunates have found out.  Runs electronics and power commanders, cases, barrles etc etc all hand built frame hand made by Tony.

Tony aslo has a super charged BSA project bike he take to prac days, that both he and rob fly on, think the super charger came off a cessna plane from memory.

anyway back to the Jap, you dont need to kill anyone Foss, greg can build you a brand new one, think there $20K.

Yep, used to ride at my home track, Action Park. If I remember right, around the same time as guys like Matt Daley etc. The shot of the wheelie even looks like it could be at Action Park.

Close but not quite the whole Cigar Mark ( Slider29 ).
It was 1970, Terry Poole collected the old toilet seat from the nearby tip and placed it over Billy's neck as the winners " Laurel's ".
Bill retained the seat the next year at Tivoli in QLD then got to return the privilidge to Terry at Amaroo in 72.
I know Kieth Davies won in 73 at Seymour but off the top of my head I have no idea of it's history from there on.
Billy's grandson won the same title in Bris just a few weeks ago at the age of 16, as a result Bill is on the search for the whereabouts of the famous seat.
It's probably in landfill somewhere but it'd be interesting to trace how far it was actually passed on down the line.
Spread the word.

Who Where When
'You know who' at "Fishers leap" circa 1960. In the days when the only factory machine was a Jawa piloted by Les Fisher.
