No prizes for guessing who this is !, but where and when ??



I guess it's a borrowed Aussie's bike but it appears to have a 2 speed box with a handlebar and foot change, 22 inch rear wheel and an early Hagon FW front brake fitted.

Actually I think it's earlier than 72, maybe 70, I was there and we all stood around until after lunch waiting for the rain to stop, normally they would've called it off but we all wanted to see Chris put on a show.
It may have been Paul Spooners bike, Bucket will know for sure because I think he beat Chris that day riding a 350.

Slides, in '72 Paul Spooner was #38 on his JAP and # 55 on his MZ, not sure if they were both his regular numbers , but I think #38 was.

Oh and yeah, it is the same day, same faces at the fence !!

Got an email from Fotohound with a forwarded message from Lyndel Butler, in it she says it is 1970 at Nepean, an All Stars meeting, and Chris is on Paul Spooners bike, she also says it is Greg Primmer on #925 , go figure !!

In Fridays post , I received an Antig Weslake manual from Mark,Slider 29, when I had a look at it,this was inside.



I knew the late Ian Williams well and his Dad, Taffy. I still see Taffy from time to time at Fairbairn, he and the Bryant lads used to come down for the South Coast Cup meetings at Sapphire Speedway.

One thing I do remember is that when things were going wrong at a meeting, both Ian and Taffy would revert to Welsh Gaelic, you had Buckleys of understanding a word they said, but you sure as hell had an idea what was going down !!

Steve, You are right again, it was Spooners bike and it is Mr Searle doing a big girl act didnt like the mud and yes i did beat Mr Pusey and the other pic is the same day, I have a picture of myself past finishing flag and he was just coming onto the straight, old egg was really pissed off.

I'll be over tomorrow night to help you scan & post that photo Ian, I'm serious.
Don't forget Chris had never seen a right hander before.
On a side note, 80's A grader, Betric rider and good mate of mine Geoff Hart finally got his new Liver just last week, so far so good but he reckons he feels better already, sadly at someone elses tragic loss.
