All but 1 has entered but for some reason they have cut us off early.
They had 3 entries by last Friday (for the program) We have had 2 team members over seas ( 1 in PNG and the other at Fraser Is ) so they are late but still in by today ( when the final cut-off is due).
Now we have everyone with the shits. David Mattock made the trip up north to get Matts Wasp ($500 in fuel! ). Jamie has retro fitted an XS motor into Ronnies Wasp ( he had just fitted a TT600 into it to make it pre85) We have just retro fitted an XS into my poor old Wasp (she was just getting excited about loosing 15kgs and picking up a few HP) and Adam found Nick Higgs and got the ok to enter the EML Norton. Ron Chaddwick convinced his yougest boy Glen to ride his Wasp, so we had 5 and 1 more was possible. Just any sidecar would have made up the numbers.
The ASA has no interest at all in coming up and Wallys are all "shed queens" so that's it from me.

As an 'add-on'.....I would have thought 3 friggin sidecars would have been enough to represent a sport of 30+yrs ago just as 3 70+ riders in an age race would be.
FFS when are we going to get into our heads what the fork we are about here.

Ok the sup regs say late entries are accepted up until 27 Oct. That is midnight Sunday. Have they got the Steward's permission to change the sup-regs?

Col is pretty good at getting back to people so if he hasn't there would be a reason. Maybe he is ill again?

Try Davey Crocket or Vandy if you can

OK So I was dealing with Col. I don't want to have to chase this. If you are close to the descisions Vandy, answer the question for us all.
If MA/MQ want to dance on this I hope they have a good lawyer. Hang on....of course they do, the ones we pay for. Nah fork that, but someone is looking for a poke on the nose.

Vaughn if you have another 4 entries just put them in using nominate. Does anyone know who the Steward is? If your entries have been rejected you have the right to protest.

And the finger pointing starts. Lawyers, nose punching, indignation !!!
Approx. time line on sidecar involvement in these Nationals :-
About the time it became likely the Classic Nats would be held in Qld, a prominant local sidecar guy went on this forum to state there wont be a sidecar class as Brisbane sidecars have gone Pre85. This statement was instrumental in the WA sidecars decision to not come to Qld. Subsequent approaches by me to the WA sidecars made it clear that due to the uncertainty that Qld could field a meaningfull number of "kosher" chairs they wouldnt risk the trip.
August 21 I announced on this thread the meeting was a goer ( two months ago)
A flurry of excitement and comments re retro fitting, sidecars definitely in etc.
Sept 12 EML said on this thread, in responce to the lack of support from the sidecar fraternity, "You'll have to forget sidecars we don't have enough so I'm packing it in"
Sup regs out seven weeks ago with six weeks to close of entries.
I put several reminders on this and the the Competion section over the next weeks.
36 hours before closing date the 18th I went on both sections pointing out that while late entries would be accepted with a fee of $50, all decisions relative to the programn, race order, cancellation of under subscribed classes, acceptance into over subscribed classes etc would be based on entry situation at close on 18th.
At no time did ANYONE telephone, text, email or in any way indicate there were likely to be any increase on the three sidecar entries received.
On 21st I emailed the entries received advising of MQ decision to cancel the sidecar class, refund the entry fee, and offer a spot each day for a demonstration run.
On 24th one of the sidecar entrants who'd done it right, and gone to a huge effort to enter a legal Pre75 outfit, went about expressing his concern at the decision by writing formally to MQ, the correct approach.
Also on the 24th (postmarked 22nd) we received a fourth sidecar entry.
On 25th I had a phone enquiry which I referred to MQ.
So at close we had three sidecar entries, the decision to cancel was advised on the 21st, and a fourth entry was Posted on the 22nd.
And yes, both the Race Secretary and Steward are aware of the MQ decision.
Perhaps a little looking inwards, and understanding of the big picture would serve the cause better than huffing and puffing on this forum.

it really should not matter who said what on any forum late entries close on the 27th  so a decision should be made on the 28 as to what classes should be canned just my two cents worth. thanks to dave mattock for driving to pick up one sidecar from up north and to jamie for all his work on getting ronnies wasp ready . may be next year fellas

A quote from Col early in the piece, "There will be sidecars at the Nationals"
As I have said as well, "if there was only 3 over 70s riding...they would get a race......."
Also, we need to remember what we are here for.......to showcase the sport. There have been titles run before with low numbers. Case in point on this forum...report from 1964 Titles in Tasmania.
The "committee" had no right to make that decision with-out consultation.

YOU ARE NOT MAKING ANY FRIENDS HERE!

I think once the rules are cleared up and ENFORCED by the scrutineers we all know where stand on pre 75 chairs. Having that assurance (like the solos do ) would encourage more parked units and make 2000 km trips worthwhile again .  A little of the track but in the same thought line , there are people now trying to wrestle in watercooled two strokes  in pre 85 . They simply werent there in 84 end of story . Stick to period and racing would be fun for all concerned . Entering a national event is for the long distance travellers not a last minute thing . Lots of cost and preparation needs to be done long time prior .(Vehicle registrations, Holidays , accommodation etc )  If entries and rules are shaky  , not many will take that risk . Just my thoughts on this matter .
I will not be putting a liquid cooled motor into a Pre 85 and do not know anybody that is, I am trying to put together a 1984 EML with all you guys on the forum so that in time we will all get together at the right time and the right place, I wish us all luck and all the best, please dont give up, just go for smoko ;) pool together keep trying and we will pervail, just doesn't feel like it sometimes, lets keep that dream alive you know the one where we win a trillion dollars.......... ;) :) :D ;D :o

If there were only three over 70s they would NOT get there own race, and never have.
The fact is there are nine Supersenior entries, all of whom entered on time, and all on legitimate Pre75 machines.
