Whats this about the el cheepo challenge, i am trying to build a bike right now for sub $2k

2K is a positive kings ransom for Yamaico Pete. I think he's aiming to bring this in at $800 or less. The challenge involves the TM/TS250 Suzuki I built using the old mate network and skip bin parts and my stored away stash for $100 that we covered in a couple of early VMX editions. The bikes sat doing nothing since not long after it was completed so I'm very slowly converting it into a flat tracker to give to a mate who's doing it tough for Christmas this year. The same el Cheapo concept that I used to originally build the bike and that Pete has taken to new levels is being used. Once I get a bit further into it I'll post some progress shots.      Below, the $100 TS250 powered TM250 that'll soon be a flat tracker.

Darren's right Pete, 15 min max and if you get lapped a few times like I did you're only doing 22 - 23 laps.
Doesn't sound as bad.

Should be right on the RD for the whole 25, I rode an SL175 in pre75 last year and got 22 laps in and she wouldn't rev past 8000

Got the engine assembled and most of the chassis together but finding it hard to get enough sunshine to put some clear on the tank and seat. Might have to use a mates booth to get it done. Aside from that just the carbies, chain, cables etc. to go.

Year Steve its got 10500  redline but for one or two laps there must have been a bit of tailwind on the back straight and it actually got to 8!

Damn that RDs lookin Gooood.

Got the pipe mounting brackets finished and gave the pipes a coat of "pot belly black",



Also finished the stickers made up and then got the tank and seat cleared.





Just need to make a couple of reed spacer blocks, overhaul the carbies and put everything together and then give it a run.
