i might be racing 3 sliders which will have road tyers on the back or speedway .
front will not be a trials tyer.
you cant restrict the tyre choice unless you provide them at a discount.mine will be 23 front 19 rear.yes i know v rubber and others make trials tyres in 19 but that will be 450.00 plus just for tyres no thanks

Tyre limitations at a meeting can be specified in Supp. Regs, however, for this meeting, MA and the relevant Commission have to approve those Supp. Regs.
Tyre choice should be up to the competitor, as back in the era's represented, riders changed the type of tyre used according to the surface of the track they were going to race on.
Dunlop K 70s are still available.
Just my 2 cents worth.

My little 250 flat tracker has a 19" Pirelli MT53 on the front and a Pirelli style Carlilse 18" on the rear. They're still supple and uncracked and I'll be using threm to dial the bike in. If they're OK I'll be using them at Temora. I'll also have Mitas trials tyres mounted as I like the option. I may even invest in a Maxxis S pattern if the bike looks like it'll competitive.

My 360 Hindall flat tracker has a 19" Carlilse on the front and an 18" trials Mitas on the rear....that, of course could change by race day ::).

G'day again, obviously we would'nt make sliders run a trials on the front and i'd be under the opinion they would run a speedway on the back, but if we do decide to run it as a trials / speedway tyre meeting that'll be exactly what we put to MA.
Shit Firko i'd love to runthe 18in wet battalax's on my yz490 but it'd be extremely unfair and extremely expensive for everyone else to be competitive with lacing up wheels and buying tyres if that carlisle of yours is'nt cracked ya must've been hiding it in dark corner somewhere, my old man has a few old arrow x carlisle's in the shed from when he was racing in the early 80's....and i don't care how much boot polish........... (worlds fastest indian)............ ya put into the cracks they won't be going back on the race track  ;) anyhow thanks to everyone so far for your words of wisdom, i know ya can't do it but we just want to make the meeting ENJOYABLE, FAIR AND MOST IMPORTANT SAFE  ;D ;D ;D Regards:ASH

You know, I can't help but feel this tyre restriction idea is a bit over the top. Why bother? After all, it's an Aussie championship, and traditionally people build the best bike within the rules. The blokes who don't have the money or talent aren't going to be the champion - they'll be there to ride and be part of it. Trying to enforce a level playing field is a mug's game. What next - fuel restrictions, engine restrictions, skill restrictions?

Look, it's dirt track on an oiled circuit. I'd much rather watch 80's model bikes running big wheels/tyres like they did back in the day, or US style flat-trackers with Carlisles etc than to see everything forced onto 18" trials tyres.

Why not just stick with the rules as they are?

By the way, does anyone enforce rule 20.2.1.2 in modern dirt track? Note that this rule does not apply to Classic Dirt Track.

Exactly my thoughts Graeme. While I can understand the reasoning behind the "rule" I don't think it'll work in principle. For instance, lets suppose that Jonesy decides to race his 90hp Nourish Weslake Redline flat tracker (a serious possibility), you'd be pretty misguided to think a 400x18 Michelin trials tyre is good enough to harness that kind of HP. Speedway tyres don't work on those surfaces with that kind of power so what does he do for tyres?

What about K70s, Ash? they were used to great effect BITD.
The K70, Pirelli MT53 and Carlilse are essentially all based on the same tread pattern.

Let the racers decide what they want to use.

I'm with you and Graeme, Firko, If the bikes have to be as per era or year class, why not the same for tyres? or just leave it up to the rider ?

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT !!
It's official.......Purple Dave ( or his new name....ALVIN ), will be returning to Woodlands, after a long absence.....last time 1974, riding the same model machine....SC 500 Yamaha in the Pre '75 class. I am hoping Langy will be riding, so I can avenge our previous clash.....the gloves are off LOL !!
This appearance is made possible,by Freakshow's kind donation of the said SC 500. For this I am eternally grateful.
Once the bike parts arrive, I will keep the members informed, as to the progress of the rebuild.
Now, time to invest in a new pair of running shoes.....the body rebuild could be the more difficult one !!

Alvin was a pants man wasn't he? ;D
Be good to see you out there, pre75 open is the most hotly contested class though.

Good news Dave, aka "Alvin", I look forward to hearing as the rebuild progresses, and good onya Freaksta. Naah, Langy won't be riding as he copped a major injury at Muswellbrook some years ago.

EA and I will be at Temora with bells on .
