Thanks Foss for listening to what i actually said ;),
As i mentioned at the start.... WE WERE THINKING OF MAKING IT A TRIALS / SPEEDWAY TYRE MEETING.
The idea was only to entice more riders to ride at the titles without making it ridicously expensive for the blokes without the big wheels and tyres, i am only trying to get some feedback on the suggestion so we know how the majority of people feel.
I mentioned this to my old man last night and as he said "let em run what they wanna run" because honestly it's 6 of one and 1/2 dozen the other, the track will have some loose oil patches as it did this year...... but as far as the 17in motards go, I think that'll have to be pulled into line as they mention in the rules book # 18.5.6.2 on page 168 MODIFICATIONS CONVERTING LATER EQUIPMENT TO COMPLY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED, let me know what ya think about the 17in wheels, should we make it a minimum of 18in wheels on a senior solo bike ?? Anyhow you'd have no chance fitting a set of big fat motard tyres between the forks or swingarm on most of these old bikes, Ha ha ha ha i'm just picturing a bsa bantam with a big fat set of motards on it  :D, lmao pushing the tyres would take half it's horsepower, lol

THANKS:ASH

Ash, in reply to your question re 17 inch wheels, the bikes from whatever era must have wheel sizes that were used in that era or year class so that knocks out the motard kit. I can't think of a bike that was fitted with 17 inch wheels BITD, having said that, someone will come up with something that did !!.

The '80s were the time of the wide tyred chookies battling it out with the sliders, be great to see that again !!

It will be terrific  to see Woodlands alive with Classic Dirt Trackers, EA and I will come over for a look, right now, I reckon I'm gunna chase up a K70 or something similar for the #59 Gally and maybe one for the Slider too, as someone just might have a skid around on it.

I see what you mean about the Bantams, but there were some bloody quick ones around BITD, ask Ray Dole !!
Good on the Temora club for putting their hands up for this one !!

Some early 80's Husky's had 17" rear wheels too. I personally think that the wheel diameter should be limited to the period 18", 19", 21" and 23" and allow the 17" on bikes they came standard on. No non period aftermarket hubs such as Talon etc except on sliders.

Several Euro makers had 17" rears on their big bore MXers from around '77  to about '82. Husky, Monty, KTM (I think).

Actually a number of racers were using 17'' wets back then too so maybe knocking 17's might be a tough one for Evo & pre 90. I wouldn't allow 17's in pre 78 and older classes though.

In the late 70's 17" rear wheels were the latest trend, I had a 17" Sun rim on my YZ400F

I have a couple of it 17" wheels, but after checking the price of rr wets you will have to want it bad unless you are using oil tracks regular. :-\
Then there is the fact that most are 160 but I suppose a little shave off each side would do it.
If at first you don't succeed, lower your standards.

Prepare the surface for trials / speedway, groom it and don't hard pack it or we might as well ride on the road.  99 percent of the classic folks use normal trials tyres that will look to come anywAy, why change it, make it for the 99% not the 1% its all about accessibility and numbers you need 100 riders to make it pay
74 Yamaha YZ's - 75 Yamaha YZ's
74 Yamaha  flattracker's
70  Jawa 2 valve speedway's

For sale -  PRE 75 Yamaha MX stuff, frame, motors and parts also some YAM DT1,2,A and Suzi TS bikes and stuff
