2013 Classic Dirt Track Champs - Main Thread
« on: December 08, 2012, 05:27:58 pm »
G'DAY EVERYONE, I'm Ashley Wilesmith I'm currently the secretary of the TEMORA MOTORCYCLE CLUB... AND I'M PROUD AS PUNCH TO ANNOUNCE that the TEMORA MOTORCYCLE CLUB WILL BE HOSTING THE 2013 AUSTRALIAN CLASSIC TITLES ON THE 5TH AND 6TH OF OCTOBER 2013
Providing that we get enough entries we WILL be running BOTH PRE-78 and POST-78 CLASSES which includes the EVO class aswell as PRE-85'S we are also hoping to run the sidecars providing the boys can get enough entries to make it a class.
We have also decided that we will run 2 junior support classes the 9-12 years pre 1980 80cc and the 13-15 years pre 1980 125cc because it's only a support class we will only be able to accept the first 12 entries so please keep that in mind ( I can't wait to see the old air cooled 80cc bikes hit the track again. lol )
We are an old club but for most of our club members this will be our FIRST MAJOR MEETING and we have HUGE plans to make this meeting bigger and better than ever.
We are yet to decide on whether we will make this meeting a TRIALS/SPEEDWAY TYRE ONLY MEETING, we want to make it as cheap and as fair as possible, I have raced on the woodlands circuit with all breeds of tyres and as much as i love the wet motards on my 250f 450f and cr500 at $260 a TYRE they are way to costly for most blokes that may never ride on a hard oil track again after this meeting. So in my opinion the next best tyre is the vee rubber trials tyres FRONT AND BACK, I would love to get some feedback on this tyre issue PLEASE.
At the moment we are currently working on the track patching a couple of holes, THAT HAPPENED TO SHOW THEIR FACE DURING OUR 100 LAP POSTY CHALLENGE. Aswell as that our new camping area is really starting to take shape, so be october next year it should be right to use. There are plenty of motels and pub rooms + a caravan park also available in town...... I'LL BE SURE TO KEEP YOU ALL INFORMED AS WE PROGRESS THROUGH OUT THE YEAR

IF YOU WOULD LIKE ANY MORE DETAILS OR IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS YOU CAN CONTACT ASH-0431653583 OR IAN-0419235742
HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE AT THE WOODLANDS SPEEDWAY IN OCTOBER

REGARDS:ASH

What great news Ash !!, Well done to the Temora Club for putting their hands up for it. Just to set the record straight from the start, though, is the club planning to run both the Aussie Classic Dirt Track Titles as well as the Aussie Post-Classic Dirt Track Titles at the one meeting ??

G'day Foss, Yeah mate that is our plan but like with any dirt track meeting, we need the numbers to make it work, To all the slider riders that are under the impression that the hard oil circuit won't suit their bikes ???? I suggest you talk to LEN NORRIS who has always said that he has soft spot for the Temora track aswell as the majority of hard oil tracks, and in my opinion it don't get much better than his word.......;)
So please support by dusting off those old bikes and leathers and making this meeting ONE THAT WE'LL TALK ABOUT FOR MANY YEARS TO COME................. Hopefully in a good way !!!!!  ;D

Hey Shaun, i'm unsure as to whether the pre-90 class is actually a title class IN DIRT TRACK, I know it is in motocross but if it is a class and if i can get enough entries to run it..... I WILL !!!, shit i might have to buy a couple of pre 90 bikes aswell  ;)

G'day Ash and congrats to you and the club for winning the right to host the titles next year.
My personal opinion is that a trials tyre only rule is def the way to go, probably 80% of the competitors do it as a hobby and just for the fun of it.
I think you'll find that if you apply to host both Classic & Post Classic you'll be up for double the permit fee and I feel that you'll struggle to squeeze all the events in, although having said that you guy's don't have to waste time putting water into it so it might work out but you'll have to start negotiations with MA as soon as possible.
Cheers, Steve

While I agree with the concept in principle, I have flat track tyres on my bikes already, as do a number of other racers so where does that leave us?. I also wonder about the legality of limiting tyre choice in an Aussie title if its not specified in MoMS.........Just thinkin' out aloud ::).
