Seeing as this thread seemed to get sidetracked from the original topic, I thought that I would post up a picture of a nice looking '83 TE510 that I saw at the Crawford River Classic a few years ago .

I like the TX desert version but i dont know if theres many in Australia.

My brother raced a TX in the mid 80's, apparently at that time there was only two TX's in Australia.

I suggest you pull it down and check the top end as a minimum. They have no rev limiter, and were prone to dropping valves when over revved  - most 2nd hand heads have been welded, and contributes to why they cost so much..
The dellorto is very sensitive even if slightly off it wont kick start, and i would say standard jetting is best. bump starting is a esy way to get it going

Hi all,
The bike breathes again after 18 years of parked in the back of a shed. Very powerful. I need to tune it now. Needle and jet are very worn.
Basically the bike only needed a carby clean, and a very hefty kick. Does anybody know where to get Dellorto carby parts?

Most Ducati shops carry a range of Dellorto jets, i got mine from Ducati Gold Coast he has a good range of jets and needles.

I got a lot of dellorto parts from a KTM dealer. They had those carbies through to 1998ish or even newer. KTM540SX I think

Rumor back in the early days of the 510 was that Husky used the Maely Speedway engine from California for testing/development. 
Here is a link to an article on him and his engine.  He developed it from the early XL350 Honda engine also.
