No I don't know much about the early 510.
I know only that they used a 350 xl head on the first motors
to experiment. Not more !

The 510 #29 on page 2 is a TX not a TE. A great, fun bike to race but a prick to start. That same
bike was featured in a early VMX mag and also Ray's book on VMX Motocross Bikes  ;)

they are ok (not great) to start if everything is 100% good in the 40mm carby. the3 up here in qld are all 1- 3 kick starters hot or cold

Do you have a link to the posts from Stephane Tirot and his CR/XL420 on the French web site?  I used to be able to get to it with Google Translate, but then Google changed something and I could not get to the link any more?  Also, Google will only access the one page that I connect to?  When I change pages, the web site won't recognise my log-in and kicks me back to the introduction page?  I can log in but when I try again to go to page 2 it throws me back to the Homepage without my log-in?  I can't even ask for help on the web site because I can't log in to Post for help!

There is a beautiul one for sale in the Uk at the moment.  The builder sold it, the new owner rode it once and it is for sale again.  It'll be a lucky bloke who gets it.....

HVA Factory in the UK have alsorts of parts for the 510, valves, pistones, heads, barrels plus a whole host of other Husky parts....

What are the differences between the 510 te and tx ?
I've seen pics of original 83 510 tx with a tube under the motor ( like TE and WR)
and a rear frame not cutten ( different of the 510 # 29).

      it would be good to get a bit of background on the 510 for us 2 stroke husky dudes ,what years and models came out ? i know i rode a mates back in 83 'and they hammer -cool ride ;) ps welcome to the forum michel  :)

I think they only made the 4 stroke air cooled for 3 years,
1983 as per 4V5 bother's, 1984 with the dropping down tank like mine, and the 1985 model with single shock.

I haven't seen an 85 model in the flesh but I think these look the best.

yes, and those bearings are common to the 410 and 610

OK so the 410/510/610 all use the Roller Rocker Arms.  That makes me curious how close the cams/rocker design is to the prototype Honda XL350.  Any chance of adapting parts?  How reliable have the Husky rocker arms been?
