Seeing as this thread seemed to get sidetracked from the original topic, I thought that I would post up a picture of a nice looking '83 TE510 that I saw at the Crawford River Classic a few years ago .

My brother raced a TX in the mid 80's, apparently at that time there was only two TX's in Australia.

Cheers!

There was an '83 TX510 bought new in Townsville . It is still here now, but with a different owner. Just as a bit of trivia, the first TC model Huskys were actually TC500s (not 510s). This was because of the F.I.M 500 MX class rules, where you were only allowed a maximum capacity of 500cc. This was later changed to allow fourstrokes to have up to 650cc (I think?), to compete against the 500cc two strokes . Jacky Martens won the '93 World 500cc MX Championship on a 610 Husky fourstroke .

Just a couple of shots of the TE now that I had a day spare to check it out. Cheers, Grahame.

Have you got it going yet?
I suggest you pull it down and check the top end as a minimum. They have no rev limiter, and were prone to dropping valves when over revved  - most 2nd hand heads have been welded, and contributes to why they cost so much..
The dellorto is very sensitive even if slightly off it wont kick start, and i would say standard jetting is best. bump starting is a esy way to get it going

Hi all,
The bike breathes again after 18 years of parked in the back of a shed. Very powerful. I need to tune it now. Needle and jet are very worn.
Basically the bike only needed a carby clean, and a very hefty kick. Does anybody know where to get Dellorto carby parts?
Cheers, Grahame.

Parts availability?
If anyone needs pistons, I have NOS Mahle piston kits available for the 500/510 4 strokes.

I got a lot of dellorto parts from a KTM dealer. They had those carbies through to 1998ish or even newer. KTM540SX I think

Michel,

Rumor back in the early days of the 510 was that Husky used the Maely Speedway engine from California for testing/development.
Here is a link to an article on him and his engine.  He developed it from the early XL350 Honda engine also.
http://www.oldrice.com/Maely.htm

Do you know anything of this?  I read through your Le Guide Vert postings...  Very complete, thank you for all of the photos and information.
