That front mudguard certainly doesn't look 'tidy' for a 10,000GBP bike ::).  Looks like the wrong diameter guard :-[. The rear of it is okay but the front looks odd - it offends my aesthetics :P.

That's the one I was talking about.  I know the chap that built it and his work is first class.  He is not a million miles form me.  £10k?  Bargain.  Cheap when you look at what that CCM sold for the other day needing work.....  Half the price of what #69 cost to build......

As for the front guard, Simon makes the mudguard stays of unequal length so that the front one pushes the guard slightly further away from the tyre to stop the mud build up and allow it to be flung out, so it is correct.  I think that is the guard is a bit longer than usual which exagerates the whole effect and ok, yes, it does look a little unusual.  Normally Cheney bikes have a shorter front guard, so you wouldnt notice the effect as much.  It would be easier on the eye if the mudguard stays were if it were symmetrical so they guard closely followed the line of the tyre.  I am sure that the seller would supply a shorter guard (about £40) or have a set of equal length stays made if you agreed to buy the bike..........!

Its is for sure worth it but I think the issue with a lot of the older pre 65 VMX bikes is the number of potential buyers is reducing.  Maybe its the economy or just that it is a very small group of people who would drop 10 large on a pre 65 dirt bike.

These points have been discussed on the forum before but.......I have been in VMX for 11 years and watch the decline at all pre65 levels.
Your right in the amount of potential buyers out there-they are becoming collector buyers as the price of a pre65 can get the average Joe Blow a couple of nice pre85 bikes to ride all season.
Now that Steven and I have got our stash of riding bikes its time for an investment and something that little bit different..even though the Sprite project is a little bit different  ;D  ::)
Times are a changing.....

cmon Alison ... the old "investment" argument is a popular one, the 'never find another one" works, cmon it is shed art and you just want to sit about looking at it.  ;D... bike admiration syndrome, BAS is a medical condition that I am studying for my Phd ... shed chair and Carona often brings on the attack.
