for the love of it !!

this reminds me-one of the riders had his full speedway gear on (#75 Steve Batchelor XL Honda)--looked excellent.

Really great bunch of people the Tassweegins !!

Home time for some-38 bikes,22 riders,17 pit crew and 13 podiums for West Oz makes for a good weekend 8)

I'm assuming the DT1's Fatboy Shanes bike, but with DT's number? The bike looks good. Old Bill's still as handsome I notice....and continuing a long held tradition of rebuilding his bikes during the meeting by the looks of it! Legend!

How cool is that old dunger sidecar with box? That's just the thing that draws the families to these events. It's little things like this that stick in peoples minds so another salute to whoever's idea it was to include that outfit and its owner in the event. Just looking at the photos tells me it'd never pass proper scrutineering so hats off to the "blind eye guy" for letting it through.

there was a lot of effort needed on the day to get it over th eline.  alll credit to dave and the owner for working through safetly issues to ensue we all got to see pre sidecars in all there glory.  Notice the spare tyre that was on the back was removed, and all sort of sharp edges covered in duct tape.  in the end its worth looking at the first few pages inthe moms.  the rest of the book is irrelivant if you can see pass that page where it goes into details about the book jjust being a guide the most important part is to use common sence and the overriding spirit of competition.

Hats off to all that that did the right thing and competed in the spirit of competiton and poo poo to those few who tried to slip through a few not so well thought out underhands.

All credit to those that took the time, effort and dollars to do what appears to have bee n a thoroughly marvelous event. Those of us that stayed at home can only lament what we missed-as we step closer to the grave......and another lost oppurtunity.
South Aust. is as close as we will ever get to being a fair shot for all to come together and race these events as it's kinda in the middle of this great brown land.
The only other way to have a fair shot would be if we could put together some sort of "invitational" where-by we could get enough bikes of competitive nature and bring the riders to them in whichever state was to run the event. Now that would be a good round-up for sure.

Well you cant say we didnt do everythign in our power to promote the event and get as many peole across the line as we could.   :-[

To mind mind it was the best send off to the old format as was possible, eveyone a title event and every participant seemed to enjoy the ride as well, some times its just not about winning and getting track time.  some times its just about being part of somthing good. thgis was somthing good for the soul.  ;)

yep you missed a beauty... :D

Whose broken Arnaco shock is that? I've been running them for years and I've never seen that before ???.
If the owner's interested in selling the broken shock and it's mate I'm willing to buy them for a reasonable price. ;)

My guess is that the Nationals will go to hell in a handbasket from here.......
We should have taken the high ground (Easter weekend) and fought to the last man/bullet/piston ring/master link/cable nipple. You all know what I mean.
We wont last in a fragmented system-not enough workers to go round.
There. I said It.

Hi Mark,
It is mine off my XL I have been using them for years too,I have never had any troubles, But this time the pounding it took at Crystal Brook over about 30 races for the weekend It just died and died in a big way. Firstly the seals leaked all the oil out and we topped it up but it only lasted one race. next race it slightly bent the shaft and on the second last race it seized solid and on the last race it completely broke the eyes off leaving young Rob to ride the last 2 laps as a mono shock bike.He still finished 2nd and won the Aust Champ.I havent seen both eyes broken off any shock before not in a race anyway. By this time the track was quite rough though and an XL should not be able to fly clean over the table top like it did when Robbie rode it. When I rode it it only got about a foot off the ground.

Any way I have just purchased a new pair of the same shocks off ebay

Cheers
Fatboy
