A September date would clash with Farleigh Castle if any-one was thinking of riding over there.

There is already talk of a container being available to transport bikes (30) similar to what they do for the ISDE and the Farleigh event organisers would supply a marquee for the Aussie contingent.

Container transport takes about 6 weeks, so a June or early July date would be OK, leaving enough time to send bikes to UK.

September/october is always a very busy time of year in SA for Motorcycle events. Theres the Bay to Birdwood, the motorcycle only swapmeet, SA state VMX titles, TT/XT 500 Muster and the ASA usually has a big meet around that time, and theres possibly a few other events too. I remember last year that there was something motorcycle related on at this time of the year for quite a few weekends in a row. To be honest i cant see anywhere where it will slot in and not clash with something and affect someone.

If we (vmx/classic) are going to be around for a few more years, I think its probably time to think about having a permanent set date for the Nationals.Or at least for the next two years.
Whats the reason behind it.?
I know its in a different state each year.8)
cheers

Absolutely spot on Alison.

Like you said in an earlier post, hopefully someone from MA will read through all the thoughts here and do some work on making the movement as huge as it could be.

From what I understand, the commitee cannot state official business on internet forums and the like, for whatever the reason(s) might be. Most likely a rule from the top of the MA tree.

Being the beaurocratic animal the MA is, we need a submission tendered so that the commitee can address the idea. It wouldn't hurt to submit a proposed date either, but that would require alot of research into whats happening where and when. I realise ya can't please everybody but IF WE can at least try to negotiate our way through all the relevant club calenders, I think we might be able to please MOST of us vintage racers.

Maybe if we could get ALL the clubs from each state involved in the classic/VMX/dirt track/sidecars to register their race/meeting calenders in the one place, like a dedicated forum on here for example, that would make the process alot more simple. That's presumming someone from every club is on OZVMX  :-\

Trying to avoid a clash of dates with The Classic Motocross Nationals and other non VMX related events is not really an issue as far as I see it, BUT having a clash with the likes of The Dirt Track Nats etc is an issue that needs to be addressed.

Arrogance.....A way of life for the those that having nothing further to learn.

yep locking in a set date has its good and bad points..Flexability is always a bonus for VMX National hosting clubs, especially if they are only a new club to the discipline.
VMX Nationals is relatively new,(4/5 years ?) so is still evolving as are the future era's.
The Nationals we have had, with all eras have been useful in getting MA and our class's orgainised,we can only move forward from here, like wise in vmx club communications.
No reason not too ! with all the techoknologee we have now days---Sykping with MA   ;D  8)
If a vmx club can make a good relationship with another club this would only help in the long run..More people more power..  :P
Though we have been through all these discussions before about class's and venues etc, we will just have to rely on our clubs talking the talk and placing more submissions on the table when they arise to MA.
We haven't got any other controlling body-better the devil you know- isnt it !  ;D
Just imagine if we could have a yearly committee meeting of all oz vmx club presidents--ahhh for the vmx dream world.  8)

quote:::like a dedicated forum--thats us so far  ;D

cheers

Having a set weekend for the nationals is always a good idea, preferably a national holiday weekend as it is always the same time. Our trials nationals have been run at labour weekend for years, it's a 3 day weekend at a good time weatherwise. That way you can plan at least a year ahead for it

not putting the cart before the horse are we Al?  We have only just got somebody (apparently) to volunteer for next year and we are talking about locking in dates for the following year.  I would of thought the hosting club would suggest the dates suitable for them and until you get a hosting club this isn't going to happen.  An independent body like MA maybe able to say HBBB can be here but if you say weekend such and such of July 2012 is when the Nats will be that year - who is going to run it?

And PLEASE consider having the early classes on the Saturday and the later on the Sunday.

I beleive that was the game plan for Broadford, to have the early classes in the mornings with the later classes in the arvo and then clean the track up overnight.
I believe the problem was that they ended up with too many back to back classes and had to use some later classes to seperate events.

Either way that old saying pops up.
You can please some of the people some of the time....

A set date would be convenient but it's really up to the hosting club to set the date that suits them.
Any decent club would have other events on the go and then different states have different weather seasons to work around

Father's Day is always the first Sunday in September.

So the weekend after can't be later than 13/9/11.

The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.
