Crystal brook is sandy loam, in amoungst the gum trees , if its prepped right it will make Cannodale look like a sheep paddock...........

Well Freaky it is a cow padock not Sheep actually.

Got to go with Trev on this no need to slang off at a venue that is as good as it is (talk to Hoony and his dog about this?)

There is a lot more to a nationals than "just the venue" we had dedicated track marshalls, great officals, a club (the Sunshine coast club that run the Cow paddock) and a bloke like Trev that gave up every spare minute he had for 6 months to get the event to be a success!

Great accommodation all round (including camping), lost of sponsors (as you will need these for the cost of putting it on).

Maybe you can stick up your hand for this Freaky and show us all how it is done as you are big on telling us how good it can be, As we here in Queensland did!

That said it will be good for the event to go to SA and I wish you every success if it comes off.

Count me in if you have pre 85 as a class!

it must be that time of the month - I ready freaky's comment as a compliment to Conondale - as said apprently Conondale was the benchmark we aspire to - I certainly didn't read it as an insult.

No there's something - me agreeing with freaky.

C'mon guys - if you guys have put a much effort into the Conondale Nats as you say (and there is no doubt of that as we know what you went through) then you should be aware of what freaky and the guys have in front of them and I am sure Freaky is just starting the battle to help out.

JUst to be clear, i have nothing to do with this Nats.

All i know is the club hosting it said they want to understand Vintage and have no idea what vintage is or require ATM.

I think if we get off our asses and help them this could be a allmighty good event as its already got an excellant track.   If this modern club and all it volunteers from at least 3 other locals clubs are willing to put all that effort required to host a VMX nationals for our benifit ( its not there's as they have no interst in vintage) then we should be going out of our way offer the next 6 months to send them every bit of info , templates, paperwork on everythign that works, wont work or could be tried.  so all they have to do is prepare us an sweet track.

REad it for what im saying, lets help these guys put on an event we want it run like, that means you can have a bloody good thing if we want it to be, if we dont well we wont get a chance to complain to anyone other than ourselves and other non vintage clubs are going to be less likely to put there hand up and help us out make a NAtional event if we dont do what we can to support them behind the scenes.

Dear freaky

Shame your not on the committee for the nats, my point was simple, nothing more nothing less, you dont need to compare any event to any other event, the SA event will be unquie in it's own right and the track will be the best the club can do, the only one to mention Qld or Nsw was yourself, why?

your last reply is more intune to someone wanting to help, good, try keeping it that way.

As with the last clubs proposal to run the Nats for 2011, I was one of 2 people to offer them help anyway i can, but they still felt let down by their own state VMXers,

What are you going to do to help? other than rant on here.

1st, try just worrying about promoting the event for it's own merit.

Again, I will assist if asked, no problems.

Cheers Worms

Freaky and Marshallmech you are the blokes arcing up not us.

Freaky I was pointing out (as Trev has above) the venue has little to do with it unless people are willing to work to have the event go off, so I will be glad to see you and Marshallmech put your hands up to help.

One thing I will say about Trev, he can backup what he is saying on this forum, 200 rides and 350 bikes can't be wrong. (what was the count at the MA run Broadford?)

No, us and them freaky, just people that enjoy all classes of VMX and post VMX be it in any state of Australia!

Agreeing with Freaky is one thing but it gets really scary when I find myself agreeing with Rossco

Freaky’s comment that…
“Crystal brook is sandy loam, in amoungst the gum trees , if its prepped right it will make Cannodale look like a sheep paddock...........”
may or may not be a gross exaggeration of the circumstances at Crystal Brooks but I don’t see it as slagging off at Conondale either.

He’s not saying Conondale is a sheep paddock, he’s implying that Crystal Brooks has the potential to be better.

Conondale has often been put up as some sort of benchmark (it was an excellent venue and event) so it’s only natural it will be brought up for comparisons from time to time.

And you lot wonder why MA was formed........All this bitch slapping about who said what about what venue is just plain childish guys. We, as a collective group of VMXers, need to work together in a positive light and do our best to promote our sport. Afterall, everything we do should be for the betterment of our sport.

If the SA crew running the 2011 nats are in need of some guidance from the clubs that have run the titles before, then that should be the main focus of our intent, not slanging back and forth over who said what.

Connondale 2009 was a terrific event and ran like clockwork until the crash on sunday moning that reduced all the following races to 2 laps. I don't know what could be done there to avoid having the hold up again. Maybe 2 ambo's??? Im not sure that even having 2 ambo's would help when a helicopter ride is needed. The only other down side was the fact that there was no ammenities for us interstate riders to wash our bikes and gear. This is particularly important for the WA lot as everything gets inspected at the border and or shipping yard. Anything that is found to be carrying soil across the border means a hefty bill for those involved.

Broadford 2010 was held way too soon in the year for any interstate competitors in my view. As a matter of fact, even the mexicans were poor in numbers. Other than that, apart from the slop and the piss poor ammenities, it was a good event with some excellent races. Shame MV doesn't spend some money on maintaining and improving what is an excellent motorcycling venue.....

I know this will open up a whole new can of worms (no punn intended Worms!) but I really do feel that somehow the genres need to be seperated. Wether that be pre78 one day and pre85 the next, I don't know, but trying to ride a suspension challenged bike through half metre deep braking bumps is not a pleasant excersise.... Don't get me wrong, I will be there regardless of how the format is put together. I'm just looking for ways that we can improve our movement as a whole.

Thats me over and out!!!

you are right GMC, but the point is to stop this bullshit about your club or bike is better than mine, there are so many great tracks and clubs in australia, I am a proud memmber of the vmx scence, so when folks choose to refer to other venues as a "sheep paddock" when we all know it's a cow paddock, it just shows their us and them mentality, in saying that, not only does it show very little respect to the hosting club, the last thing they want is to be compared to is an event held 2 years ago,
Nothing like putting these folks under pressure hey.
so if Freaky and Marshall are so missunderstood, maybe they need to let the organisers and hosting club know of their willingness to be the promoters.

have a great day you guys

NO probs trev, I spoke to the guy today and put my hand up to help were i can.

MAybe you can help by sending all the info about what worked at your nats and what didnt so we can build a knowledge base, will do the same for broadford.

Any opinios wanted even concerns from previous events so at least we can inform this committee what to expect and how to build onto better events which is really the point of here......

even alison point is valid, i never give much thought to ambos but if they only have 1 at the statiomn that cover 200KM we could be waiting all day for backup, so that first point on th elist of must cross issues. ;)

The old boys want age groups in respective cc class in pre 75. Not an all in (capacity) age group. I heard that quite a bit in the lead up to Broadford.
And PLEASE consider having the early classes on the Saturday and the later on the Sunday.
