Random thoughts:
1. Seperating the eras (pre-78 vs Evo+) will be well recieved.
2. Run the eras seperately, with the earlier bikes going first.
3. Don't post up photos of moderns getting mega-air because it scares lots of people.
4. Make a big fuss about natural terrain/old bike friendly.
5. Camping at the track? Facilities?
6. Event T-shirts are well recieved (NFI if they make financial sense for the orgainser, though).
7. Event programme should be kept fluid for as long as possible, to minimise back-to-back races. Generally, the punters will be able to identify problems (and their solutions) better than any non-competitor can (like Brad did last time).
8. If you can give the punters more than the minimum two laps practice, they'll appreciate it.
9. Age races make people happy.
10. Remember that there's no real sponsorship in VMX. We're a mile away from the modern MX titles in attitude, and riding skill (on average).
11. If races have to be combined due to insufficent entries, then look at sensible options across eras, rather than just across capacities (like putting Evo 125s & Pre-85 125s together , rather than just jamming both into the already well-subscribed Evo 250 & Pre-85 250). And inform people as early as possible, so they can leave bikes at home/hassle mates into entering/whatever.
