What a great pic Alan, just recieved confirmation that Rob Tumes will be coming to Dirt track Nats. Looks like being the classic motorcrosser vs dirt track confrontation.

Sounds like a good day Grasy.Pretty sure interest and momentum is still building for what should be a fantastic weekend. Read somewhere else on this site that Firko has talked Andrew Bailey into coming and having a ride. Not sure if that is one Beetle Bailey but if it is he was a goer in his day on Moto Crosser's and will be good to see him going round again.

Curly, Dave can't fill out his entry yet as he is unsure of which machine he's gunna ride in the 250 class(I think), his CR rocketship or a super trick XL250.
(Dobbed ya in mate, should have kept that engine off the bench). I kinda think we will see a wailing 4-stroke 250 of his at Nepean, doing half as much engine speed again as its design brief intended.

Still hoping to make it. May have my RT1 going, slider is ready,if planets align in sequence I'll ride.       Talking of sliders the M.O.M.s. needs to be upgraded and clarified in relation to eligibility for the classification 'Classic Sliders'. Presently there is a hotch potch of rules which jump around between classic dirt, classic motocross and [classic long track which it appears to be superfluous and about to be removed]. Among the many ambiguities are engine design rules which effectively bar specials that were around in the sixties and seventies. In my opinion the Australian racing scene contained an abundance of specials in those times. Now days with generally better affordability of purpose built machinery things have changed. Among  the proposed rule changes is the suggestion that the time frame "pre 75" be dropped, Which I'm inclined to think should not happen even though it means my XT slider would be disallowed..... Because of all above I intend to make representation to the classic dirt committee a set of recommendations which that committee may like to consider discussing, modifying, endorsing [or throwing out]. If any one out there would like to agree with my project, or rubbish it, or whatever, on this forum or to me through my personal email address, or send a message to the classic dirt committee through their own club please go for it. cheers pancho
dont follow me i'm probably off line!

wal
in aust champion ships sliders can race in there own class pre 85 and also there build date as per 2009 nats
ie 2 valve jawa pre 70 pre 75
4 valve jawa weslake pre 78
tt 500 based sliders like yours and my old 1 pre 78
other based sliders as per their engine build date ie side port xls pre75 c/port pre78 ect ect
track racing is not dirt track and their rules dot apply to us in dirt track dont get confused by them
all sliders 500cc can race with mx bikes in open races unlimited class and 250s with 250s
DONT GET CONFUSED WITH THE PENRITH/ST GEORGE CLUB RULES RE SLIDERS
pm jap454 or mattsagas for better interpritation of the rules

Poncho, those "engine design rules" are only for classic long track (I think). I've been over this before but the majority of pre-75 racers would like to see the word 4-stroke removed from the All-Powers Pre-75 Race.(this would get our age divisions back-ie we would have the numbers to fill each age group). We will be running an all powers race at Griffith (support pre-75} to gauge acceptance. If you can put the idea to MA an get a hearing I will spell your name as you wish.
