Wanted / Farm bike to double kids around on
« on: June 02, 2016, 06:52:42 am »
Guys,

An old work mate of mine from near Sydney has asked if I can get hold of a bike suitable for him to double his kids around on a property.

We are thinking of a DT,  TS, XT 250, XL or something similar to that. Low seat jobbie. Nothing flash really.

The bike will be left at a place in the Goulburn area in NSW.

I can be contacted on 0428 384800

All the best

Pete in Wollongong

Hi Mick,

Yes I hit the Ebay button on those gear box bits. there was about 20 hours to go and started to think I wouldn't find anything locally.

I have been in touch with Chippy over the phone. He was on the hunt for me too. Top hand that Chippy. Wasn't aware he had kicked up Maicos at Chippys.

Over the years he has helped both myself and Reg with our AW 250 restos. Well before it was a business

Thanks for help

Pete

Gents thanks for the help. As it turns out I am a bit out of the loop with Pauls business. I know Paul as he helped me with the original build about 4 years ago. I given him a call and left a message through the business web site.

Need to get a wriggle on as Bathurst meeting just around the corner.

Once again thanks.

Guys at yesterdays race meeting I lost the following parts off my 1977 AW 250.

The sit on top of the gearbox beside the carby and fit into the gear selector plate. There is like a hollow dome nun/screw that pushes the spring down onto a pin that fits into the selector plate indents. (stops the 1000 false neutrals)

1/  Pin pawl - part # 3415

2/  Compression spring - part # 3422

3/ Tension spring holder screw - part # 3417

Located in Wollongong 80 ks south of Sydney

Thanks

Perfect weather both days.
Original track restored, re-used and re-cycled, with period bikes.
Bit added to the old track to take it to 1.9 km long. Most of the old up and downs along the sandy hillside with some mud flats stitched in to keep us on our toes.
Great roll up of over 130 racers with approx 2.5 bikes each.
Opening of the track by the cutting of a blue ribbon on the main straight buy the fifth generation land owner.
Many a kind word said by one of the key players in getting Dargle re Cycled Mr Ken Swan # 222.

Couple of free ride laps to the Heaven volunteers who helped in the working bees.
Then into the cup qualifiers and finals.  Outstanding day of tough, super fast and slippery racing.
No major damage to rider or machine. (Sunday not so good with Ken Swan having a front on look at his front tyre before popping his shoulder out)
Almost dust free Dargle. End of the finish straight was talcum powder till a good drenching from the sprinkler system saw it turn to oil on glass. Caught about 10 fine riders off guard and sat them all on the ground.

Great roll up of spectators both days. All said they were having a brilliant day remembering the early days or just seeing and smelling the old bikes fly on the super fast Dargle straights. This event even brought one of old Mr Motocrossers out for a day trip look see. Anthony Gunter couldn't pass up a chance to re live the Dargle of old.

Have no doubt the track and the venue will continue grow and provide a huge amount of special memories for people and camp fire racing stories for the years to come.

cheers to all those who made it happen. should be proud of what you have achieved.

Which parts do you need?

From memory a mate of mine that built a 370 needed a CDI unit that bolts to the steering head area and he found the TS 185 one was the same part number.

Hope that helps

Mission accomplished.

Thanks to Shoei for his efforts in sourcing a very tidy Husky 450. Bike now tucked up in the garage.

Cheers

Kawasaki / Re: KX 250 1980 - what seats are the same

Sorry for late reply Kevin. Just found the reply to my posts button after all these years

I was supplied with the right seat by a collector in Queensland. Never ended up paying him for it but as it turned out he now owns the bike.

I'm sure it will be a pleasant re build as it was nut and bolt original (except the KDX seat)

All the best

Update

Gooldies 300 EXC was recovered by one of the original investigating police who at that time was working in the Anti Theft Squad.

Months later he moved to the local drug unit and during a search warrant looking for drugs found the 300 inside the house in better nick than when it was stolen.

New plastics and not used. Pool room bike you could say.
