I'm almost certain Bellys bike had Simons forks and a shitload of the latest and greatest in billet trickery. It's hard to tell from the photo but to me the bike appears to be a fluro painted stocker with White Power forks. I'd like to see more details of the bike, especially the swingarm/shock/linkage area. I'm certain the Bell bike featured some trick (possibly OW) items in that area. A friend did some welding on the original bike and I spent an afternoon helping him and checking the bike out. A lot of time has passed but I reckon we could spot the welding if this is the bike. The seller is very clever with his wording and doesn't actually say that this is the actual bike....but, he doesn't say it isn't either. It's all smoke and mirrors.

It is a replica Gary. Just has original bits on it like the rear shock that is attached to the rear brake via a cable set up. I nearly owned it back in '01 myself
So is it the very bike Belly rode or is it a replica of that bike? If it's a replica, the seller appears to be misrepresenting what he's selling, alluding that it's the bike Bell rode in '87.
Your good friend Geoff  (tongue in cheek) built the bike who is a good friend of Bell. Bell gave him some trick parts that he had is my understanding. It may well be that the current owner does not know that it is a replica ( just guessing here). Again from memory the current owner paid just in the double figures, but he obviously feels its worth a shit load now. He has probably spent too much time at Dead Dog Racing!

I dont agree. I reckon its worth $7-8 G's. Front end alone is worth $2500-$3000. It has got some other trick bits as well.

Are they WP or Simmons forks? I assume they must be Simmons if they're worth that much.

$8k minus $3k for the forks brings it back to $5k... And then you'd need to track down a set of standard forks for it.

What makes the front end worth 2500- $3000. Doesn't look like UDX60 front end to me.

Form all accounts the fluro paint was hell to keep on the plastic and they generated a lot of spares by the end of the season, I'd say you are looking at some.

Yeah $2500-3000 is too much i spose. I still reckon its worth at least $7K. Like i said, it has got other trick bits on it. Rear shock for one. I think the rear brake for another. It was back in '01 when i saw it last.

Brad, the rear brake linked to the rear shock was standard YZ for 85~87. Apparently it wasn't very good - Bell disconnected it for either SX or MX (I can't recall which) because it was actually a hinderance.

Oh okay. Maybe not as many good bits on it as i thought. $7K is looking a bit of a stretch then :-\
The bike does look fantastic, that is for sure.
