after that i think 15 ft drop into creek bed.

In front of the commentary box? - that was 'The Wall' :o, the moment of judgment ;), a test of your manhood :), a split second decision 'will I jump it like a man, or ride it like a girl' ::) :-\.

If there was a creek involved it was 'The Willows', and no 15 foot drop ::).

Allegedly still hold the record for the most crashes in one lap of Appin - 12 1/2

How do have half a crash?

One on the way from the pits to the start!!

Minibikes from age 9 to 14 (started in 1973 at North Brisbane at Samsonvale and Caboolture speedway track) then juniors (ACU) from 14 to 16 one year senior on 125 only, 2 years enduro, several year of road racing (made A grade level), off the subject but in keeping with the theme, 3 years racing speedway (sedans) 5 years road racing superkarts including state and Australian championships (250cc international class for those who know what they are) and now back full circle and into vintage motocross in 2005.

Most fun would be now with a lot more bench racing and talking with like minded people, but as a ten year old heading old to race with my two bigger brothers and sitting in the back of the FC Holden ute wind in the hair (had hair then), priceless ;)

I grew up on a 2000 acre farm, I road just about every day from the age of 8 to 18. I didn't ride MX but did a few club enduros the Weipa croc run in 86. I got out of bikes in about 92 and I'm just getting back into them now with my 74 Montesa enduro a Ossa SDR and a half vintage (92)yamaha WR250.

An Interesting thread 090, i'll play.

I raced a few MX club days 1979 -1981
Started racing MX seriously 1982- 1991 (or was it 1992 ?)

and mixed it with the following

MX sidecar (as a swinger) 1983
Enduros 1984/85
Dirt Track 1986-1994 (last open competition licence 1994, bought a house, all bets of for 10 years :()
Desert Races 1985-1990
MX Sidecar (as a rider) 1987
Speedway Solo 1988-1993

Started VIPER MX last round ravenswood end of 2003 season on my old race bike that i managed to keep CR250RG and got 2nd overall in class, this started it all again but no where near as serious as 1st time around.

social trail rider 1984 to present

early 70 tried speedway, then MX and enduro's

Then it was wife and kids until 90's went karting, most bloody expensive "inexpensive" racing around

Barry
1973 Rickman Zundapp Metisse, to rebuild
1979 Husqvarna WR250
1974 Husqvarna MAG CR250

Yep, a two year C grade career in '78/79 seasons.

First race was in the 125cc support for the '78 Mr. Motocross Qld round - crashed in an oil puddle during first lap of practice and maintained that form for the next two years. :D
Remember back when they sprayed oil on the tracks to keep the dust down? ::)

Pretty much raced every weekend during that period - including all the Club events for Albert & District MCC (MX, Hare & Hounds, Trials - yes on an MX bike...)
Then gave it all up to go surfing at 19. :P
"Whadaya mean it's too loud?! It's a f*ckin' race bike!! That pipe makes it go louder - and look faster!!"

first motorcycle race was vmx in 2004,
previous racing was in karts and speedway minisprints(1100cc motorcycle engines)
agree with the previous post about karting being the most expensive "inexpensive racing"
