I love that classic Holden look of the bonnet underside being partially painted black!!  :D  :D  ;)

yep     left hand drive, 6.3 metres in length , 2920 kg ,460 cid and a sparkling 29.6 litres per 100 klms..
       love it ;)

Is that land barge yours Tim? That's a cool old T-Bird, is it a '72-74 model?  I had a 66 model when I lived over there and it was like driving an aircraft carrier. I really wished I'd have bought it home with me. That one looks to be in cherry untouched condition, to the point that the paint would probably come up with a decent cut and polish. The interior leather looks pretty intact, something rare for old American cars. Cool ;D

Hi Firko , 1976 Last of the truly giant series six 7.6 litre  "Big Birds" yep it is original and bog stock even the sunroof but the paint is rat shit ,the photos make it look much better than real life. $6600 +$400 freight to our door, (My younger son paid for it and is financing the resto as a pressy to me.... :)
The series six Thunderbirds * ran from 1972 till August the 8th 1976 this one is only 8 weeks off the run end. The replacement series sevens ran 302cid engines and lost literally a tonne of lovely blubber. ( Something about fuel economy... sad)
* They are in fact a version/clone of a two door Lincoln Continental Mark IV.
Hope to drive (sail) the Land Yacht to Broadford HBBB next year. Cheers Tim

$6600 Matching chassis and engine numbers, only 79000 miles since new.  Try to buy a  two door Big Block Aussie V8 Holden ,Ford ,Chrysler of the that era in the same running condition for that price...... :D

For some reason I've always thought Merc station wagons to much cooler than the sedans. That one looks pretty good Tony...Deisel?

You're going to have a hoot in the T-Bird Tim. There's an old bloke around these parts with a '75 Lincoln Continental in absolutely pristine original shape. I struck up a conversation with him at the gas station one day and he told me he also had a rusty '76 T-Bird under a tarp in his yard that he'd bought for $1000 for parts. Once he got it home he didn't have the heart to break it up and was undecided what to do with it. He told me it, like his Conti was RHD and had been in the country since new. I still see the old fella and his missus cruising in the Conti on weekends.

76 T Bird wrecker under a tarpaulin ;) If you come across him again Firko perhaps you may mention me...Amazed at the amount of nos parts for these USA oldies. Seat belts compliant with Australia regulations? no problem $150 the pair from the US in a week! Will not be converting it to RHD, you are not required to in Australia for many vehicles now. Going for full Victorian rego and insurance so will have imported vehicle inspection (VASS cert) and report, but having been manufactured before 1978 and in stock form that is by far far the easiest review.

I've got a 53 Packard straight 8 Clipper Deluxe that I want to sell.
Mechanically restored and 90% complete but body & interior is rough.
I'll take some photo's when I drag it out of storage if anyone is interested.

Brilliant! Firko it is indeed the last of the" Jade Group " specials. Hence the standard electric* sun roof with white leather trim. The Jade velour trim had been dropped late in the series.
* Has electric everything, like windows (including the vent windows!) seats ,sunroof ,aerial, boot release, 8 track cartridge player... ect ect..and has believe it or not the first production  ABS brake sensing system!

Blame my old man, he had a couple of V8 valiants in the 70s for some reason, I thought they were great,at least until he bought a Plymouth Fury...

Holden must have run that black on the underside of the bonnet for many models as I had quite a few Holden’s over the years and they all had it.
There were some models that they didn’t put it on properly because it would wash off easily when washing the motor but most of them they used some sort of superior technology to apply it because no amount of pressure washing or degreaser would ever remove it.
