Latest update:

Volunteer Dave Murray has been busy laying out the course for the Hopetoun GP, and he’s as sure as we are that everyone who takes part in this unique event is going to have an unforgettable time.

One piece of advice for two stroke owners is to perhaps err on the rich side when it comes to jetting. If you’re really keen bring a few spare jets with you and tune your bike accordingly on Saturday.

On Saturday, a test section in the dunes about 15 kms out of town will be available for practice and tuning (take those spare jets with you). The sand itself is quite damp at the moment, which will make the sandy sections a bit tricky on both days.

There’ll be a big start banner over Austin Street on Sunday where riders will depart from, and ride for about five kilometres out of town, before following an old railway line and then into the course proper which contains a wide variety of terrain and tracks.

The "goat paddock” is fairly open but you’ll need to be wary of the tufts of grass, as some of them are quite solid.

The road sections are quite enjoyable and will provide a welcome relief in between some of the challenging terrain. Standard gearing is probably best given the variety of terrain that riders will encounter.

A sample of the terrain that riders can expect.

Tex

they didn't say anything about the emergency ration pack for two weeks survival we "should " carry because of Drakies arrowing.... face it, we could all end up in the Northern Territory from there... ( big jump over the creek near mildura ;D ;D)

We are still taking entries and will be on the day as well, all you need is a licence and a registered bike and $60 entry fee, no MA licence required.

Closing date for postal entries has been extended to Wednesday 28 May. Pre-entry fee is $60, entering at the event costs $80.

No more UVP applications are being accepted however.

Make sure you bring all relevant paperwork with you to Hopetoun (licence, log book for CP, etc)

Any opinion on tyre pressure and riding techniques. I've never ridden on sand before. J PS can't wait.

Jerry, pump your tyres up as hard as you can and sit forward on the fuel tank as far as you can and you will have a memorable time ;D

Don't forget to attatch the little orange flag on the long pole to the back of the bike - the sand may get a little deep in spots and we don't want to waste too much drinking time at the end of the day digging around trying to find you! :o

I expected nothing less from G from GMC. He's never been the same after he rode one of Spains finest. I suppose I will have to buy a raffle ticket for that Green snot ball to get back in his good books. J
