I didn't say that only 500 odd where made , that # belongs to the yz 360 aprox 513 made the RT2mx was not a large production # but are rare in these days . the DT2mx and RT2mx share the same frame totally different from the DT\RT trail bike frames .As these bikes where Yamahas first production motor crossers built from the start as race bikes . the DT1mx was built from the DT1 trail bike and used a standard trail bike frame whereas the DT\RT2mx had no brackets for lighting or indicators no steering lock the frame also had 2.5 inch lower rails to clear the over the head cross pipe . Yamaha used both the DT1 and RT1 prefects on all dt1 ,dt2 , dt3. rt1 , rt2 , rt3 , frames the main differences are 18" front wheel to 21" by late dt1 early dt2 ,reed valve in 72 . So as the DT2mx and RT2mx where classed as dt and rt bikes they kept the range frame and eng # s . I was interested in Daves bike when it was first on Evilbay as like Firko I have a Gen RT2mx motor the price was at the $750 mark on the bidding I would have gone a bit higher but the bike was going to be a parts bike for me not worth spending much more . The bike now is over priced sorry Dave you should have called me before spending on all new parts from the US , I told you before you started on it I have a shit load of bits for them . As a collector the bike is intact BUT even thought the frames are the same they are numbered RT and DT this bike is a hybid with a RT frame and a DT motor , this will not mean anything to a racer but to a anal collector like me they have to match not necessary matching numbers but the prefex have to .
