No they pulled the pin on us even before late entries were counted so there goes that.

The problem up here Ali is theres only 1 or 2 legit pre 75 trolly's, they where going to retrofit the pre85 ones back to pre75 specs.....how you do that boggles me?

The rules for the pre '75 sidecar class are a little more lenient compared to solo's.
Basically if the engine is pre '75 or follow on, drum brake rear, period front disk and pre '75 spec non piggy back, pre 75 suspension travel and geometry- you're in.

This rule was made (correct me if I'm wrong) to encourage more entries in the '75 class and to make use of all the mid-late 70's wasps that are little better than the pre 75 ones.

To convert Nick Higgs' 70's airbag EML or Vaughn's '76 (?) wasp- relatively easy and in the spirit of the 'loose' rules.
To convert Ronnie's or Dave's or my 83-84 EML- waste of time it would be a piece of shit.

GCR 18.7.01 States "For the Pre-1975 class, all performance parts must be manufactured before 31st December 1974.

Ok what are performance parts. Is it just engine and brakes or does it include suspension?

How many sidecars were entered last year and if there was enough where are they?

Yes it is a good time to clean it up a bit . I then  might bring my stuff back out for a run and fun .

Hmm... I have to ask, if you are only out there for fun then what does it matter?

Well if it doesn't matter , can I enter with my modern ? It is a lot kinder on my back .   ;)  I know what you mean , but if there are rules they should be for all .

Point taken and going any further would detract from this thread. Thnx  :)

No one has answered my previous question above. If it is too hard to get enough (six) Pre 75 Sidecars, to constitute a Championship class. Would there be enough if it was Pre 78. It's up to the Sidecars guys to make it work. Ignoring rules to get enough is not the answer. No one wants to be beaten by a machine they know isn't legal.

I am not an expert on sidecars and will not pretend to be, but what has to change to make it work. Where are the bikes from last year?

I guess changing the date could work, to include a few bikes that are pretty close to pre 75.

On the other hand, there is plenty proper Pre '75 outfits sitting in sheds, the main problem with lack of entries is that people choose not to enter.

The Pre '75 class at one stage had a stronger following and attendance than any other class including modern. I have raced at events with up to 25 (mostly legit) pre '75's so they are out there.
