Brilliant weather, great track, excellently managed, fantastic camping, hot showers, fantastic vintage vibe, sore muscles, giant grins....what more could you want? Oh yeah...to be 10 years younger and fast :) :) A must do event. Thanks QVMX and all the officials and helpers.

Mic, the Horwoods did those KTM's prould, DK still turned the knife a little more.....he was basically playing with everyone, he's off to defend his World Vet's title he won last  year and then to Farleigh Castle. After lunch today he went surfing.....why wouldn't you?,  afterall your in the Sunshine State. Robo47 on here who lent Darryl his 89KX500 to ride reckons he'll park it up now...off to the pool room...lol. A few things I noticed at this event which ended up with 181 riders and over 500 bikes where
1    Those 80's model KTM's in white look like  faded dogpoo.
2    Not many yellow peril in the pre85/pre90 classes
3    Lots of Green bikes in pre85/pre90.....all sizes.
4    Lots of young fella's at this event.
5    Having non competitive ride sessions is a great idea....the old boy's love the idea....we had a 56 Jawa doing laps 8).
6    The novelty events on Sunday afternoon are a hit
7    VMX in general has some of the nicest people you could ever want to meet
8    The harder you work, the luckier you get...this event is a monster and has had an unbelievable amount of hours/work put in behind
the scene by a few people that never gave up and it paid off....I take my hat off to everyone involved including the riders because at
the end of the day we all need each other.
9    There are lots of caravans/play stations/buses and motorhomes now....maybe we are getting soft?...lol.
10  Having a "PRO" class is a great idea....having Ex world champs/GP riders/ Aussie, Kiwi champs riding/racing/walking around the pits
talking to everyone is a big buzz....the whole atmosphere is electic...nothing but smiles :)
11  This event has the potential to grow...I'll predict next year over 200 entries.
12 The 3 Kiwi's (Shane/Darryl King and Mark White) will be at least 6 next year...a genuine Australia V NZ test...6 in each side..maybe
more....the pro's are excited as us
13  It was hard work going from side to side on drunks hill watching the Pro's when your on crutche's
14  There are some beautifully prepped bikes out there.
15  The 80cc class is growing.
QVMX.....Australia's #1 VMX club......leading the way.

Yes John what a great weekend.
Darryl is an amazing rider and bloke.

The only thing we changed on the bike this weekend was the front brake adjustment and the gear lever. Except for the broken sub frame in race two but with some kiwi ingenuity (tent peg and fencing wire) we had it going again.

He said the bike will be just fine the way it is and we will smoke them. And he did.
I am so proud of having such a great rider come all this way to ride my bike and win this great event.

Thanks to you John for talking me into giving Darryl my bike.
It was one of the best weekends of my life.

Pete.

Big thanks go to Crocket and his team of helpers.
Sidecar boys will be back, though not sure if I'll be there.
We missed the pre90 sidecars, we were hoping tp get them this year...we have 4 light weights up here, 3 CR500s and Popeye KTM 520..also a KX500 in Gladestone thta's growing moss, how good would it be to have them in the mix.
Thanks again, Great meet.
ps Don't just rely on the Kiwis to take the trophies home...ask some Saffies and the Brits too. This is a world class venue for VMX.

What a great weekend.  The second best race meeting I've been to this year ;)

A big thanks to John for a lend of the awesome YZ250a.

Thanks to all the QVMX workers and SCMCC for the park.  Robo set out a great track and John did a heap of good promoting.

I think a special thank you should go to the COC Peter Bell.  This guy is a deadset legend, and as riders we should thank him whenever we get the chance.  He runs a great meeting, someone asked how they were going to get though all the races on the Saturday well he got it done with a number of stoppages and gave us a great Pro race to finish the day.  I got out of the place just before 6pm he was still on the tractor getting the track ready for this week end.

Well done to everyone involved in making this an unforgettable weekend.

Special thanks to Whitey who offered me a ride on his CR125 when my bike crapped it on the first lap of practice. Only met Whitey once before Conondale and he offers me a bike to ride for the weekend, can't get better than that  :D

Looking forward to Toowoomba

Is this Peter Bell NSR ? He's a great MA scout, calmly cruising at big events.  8)

Noel is probably in bed by now Ali so I'll answer.  Yes that is Peter Bell in the foreground and Andrew ?? (current QVMX President) in the background.  Both top blokes and were brilliant over the weekend.
