Why are the rules different in State of origin Footy .... Both Gallen and Myles should be stood done for the remaining two games.....and the games in between and then maybe the rest of the players will think twice about playing judge and dishing out punishment as the see fit.  That's why they have refs and video footage.
Be very  interesting to see what happens in game two.....

As Gallen said today"Miles had it coming" yep sure did,the mouthy prick got what he deserved,he's just one of those mouths that dont stop, and yes,QLD were just outplayed, but who can tell what game two will bring? I thought James Maloney was a good inclusion in the NSW squad,he's tough as nails and has a good kicking game.

cheers Dale.

With so much work being done to get the game 'back on track" the gutless efforts of Gallen in the first loose arm swing are inexcusable and 1 week is an absolute crock given the latter 2 connecting punches as he came up from the tackle. The Blues simply beat us in a show of solidarity with good ole fashioned guts & determination and they didd'nt need their captain to whinge like a 5 year old to the ref and take it upon himself to dish out retribution. Never been a Laurie Daly fan but he was a class act last night with his honest non PC pre & post take on the game, Gallen however is a thug who's living in he past and I doubt there will be any love for him at Suncorp.

Being a Mexican I'm equally a fan of State Of Origin and the Queensland Maroons and whilst i wasnt happy that we lost i respected & appreciated how the Blues went about their game and can't wait for game 2 to see what our boys can come up with.

If Gallen hadn't jobbed Miles, someone else would have. He was going the grapple and other dodgy moves in almost every tackle he was involved in. Gallen at least had the guts to job him out in the open. Miles a grub and has been for years, hardly any players like or respect him on either side. Meninga shined it on and didn't make a big deal of it because he didn't want any more attention drawn towards Miles.

In no way am I making Miles out to be the victim, far from it, never been a fan of his game play but he has done that for as long as I can remember. Winning the ball, the play and ultimately the game then walking up to the prick after winning and gently  >:( letting him know that he just had his pants pulled down would have been a far better outcome.
What I have is a major issue with the “establishment”  thinking the “BIFF” is o/k, for Gallen thinking that he can be the judge/jury & the judiciary for handing out a limp wristed 1 week penalty. If Gallen’s actions were filmed on a CCTV outside a pub (or the like) he would be in front of a magistrate and more than likely facing a sentence of some kind.  Just because its State of Origin or football in general shouldn’t mean that such actions are condoned.

The worst part of all this is that its guaranteed that Gallen will be targeted in game 2 and one can only image how the feral element of the maroons supporters will behave which won’t do the game any good. I’d be guessing that channel 9 will have some very strict guidelines delivered to them from the NRL regarding what they can and can’t televise pre, during & post the game to limit the damage.

It seems that not a day goes by where some knob head takes a swing at someone in the street and the end result is someone lying in a coma for weeks on end or worse still dead because they belted their head on the concrete as they fell to the ground. League officialdom and the rest of the larger football community are dropping just short of condoning his actions which is wrong.

I was under the impression that State Of Origin selection was based on the state in which they played their first senior rugby league game, not their birth (or) home state.

Bahnzy You are correct on the eligibility and my posts was a bit rich as NSW list of players born elseware is just as long.

But what does get under my skin a bit is with Greg Inglis (and Folau) his first senior game of football was with the Toowoomba woop whoops who were Melbourne Storms feeder club at the age of 18. Up until then I don't think he had crossed the Tweed. This is where the league should step in and add credibility to the process or just have anyone regardless of where they are born (OZ, NZ or otherwise) who signs their first NRL contract at the same time nominate wwhich state they support and that is locked in stone for the rest of their career.

As for Gallen I agree it wasn't a good look but I did notice that Myles didn't lead with his head after half time and so Gallen's actions may have saved a life!

Cheers

Rod .....Good to see we share the same point of view about players being the judge and jury on the field.

The problem as I see it is that somewhere some 8-15 yr old has seen that (plenty of them actually) and they see it now as being OK because the grubs that run the game don't have the nuts to send him off and keep him off.
As has been alluded to above the League should not condone it and if it happened outside a pub the video ref wouldn't only show what he wants the punters to see. The perp would be locked up.
There is now a show for boof heads that want to punch and kick their way to hero status and it's rubbish as well.

We've now reached the stage where you can actually get sent off for being punched. What a joke.
