Cleaned up all the areas where bits had been cut off and then modified the frame side bars so they meet up, ready to be coped into the backbone
Looks like it will fit up pretty good. Just need to extend the backbone up to the steering head and cope the end ready to weld. Once that's in place new rear loop struts can be added in with tapered reducers machined up to accommodate the difference in diameters
It's a bit hard to spot in the photo but the old DT frame is as straight as a dog's hind leg, so that'll need to be straightened out before it's welded in. Seen a lot of DT frames and none of them seem too straight
Put both frame pieces on the scales and they weigh 12.2 kgs. Haven't got the complete rear loop struts yet but still have the side stand, pillion pegs and a number of other brackets to come off, which might take another kilo off, so it's no lightweight but not too bad.
