Pete......you obviously missed my posts on the down side of using a cheap throttle. Mine was months off work and a lot of pain. When are you home mate? I pick the "BIG PROJECT" up on Monday.

I'm in the airport now Mark, on my way home, just in time for the display on Saturday. I'll be up at Casa del Firko checking that 750 out next week.
Spotted an early RM in a bikeshop near where I was staying in Rayong. Don't know much about Suzukis but it was watercooled with a drum front brake and looked like about a 250. The driver I had is going to find out what they want for it. Good job for the hand luggage over the next few trips :)

Cool Pete.............Not looking for a project by any chance? With all of that spare time you have, this might be just the ticket to fill up those loose hours ;D Nobody seems interested in the idea so it must be dumb.

Here's something right out of left field......Because I really want to see the Pre 60 class go off at Kumagutza, I'm willing to supply a C15 BSA frame, Harley back wheel, Goldy front hub, 1959 T100SC Triumph core motor and a set of new motocross high pipes, BSA B44 tank and whatever else is needed to build the bike to ride in the pre 60 class at the Nats. All you have to do is build it. I'll still own the bike of course but you get to ride it at the Nats and as many NSW big meetings as you can squeeze in without hammering and old bike into the ground. There will be a decent bit of fabrication, an engine rebuild (I pay for parts), one front wheel to build, paint, and the squillion little things involved in building a hot rod TriBSA.

I'll supply and pay for the parts but you do the work and ride the thing for a season or longer if the relationship works out. My only stipulations being that you live in the Sydney Metro area or no further than Wollongong/Newcastle, are reasonably familiar with British bikes and are proficient enough to fabricate and weld the needed parts and frame mods so the bike is built to an acceptable standard and that you've got a clear schedule with plenty of shed time and no other projects on the go. Everything else is negotiable............What do you reckon, am I asking too much?

I'd be all over that Mark but the RD and work and new house are occupying all of my time.

Did a bit more on the frame tonight. Machined up some tapered reducers to go between the existing 25mm thick walled tubes and the standard 19mm tubes that support the rear loop.

In place ready to weld up.

Ended up cutting the frame loop from the backbone as it is just too far out of wack. Once the backbone is welded in then the loop can be properly aligned and welded back in.

Now to get a couple of bikes cleaned up ready for Ted's show on Saturday...

Hey SON, when are you picking up your Starracer T500? I'm picking up the Shell OW on Monday and I think Jimmy's getting his Yetman Triumph tomorrow. I'm picking up the 750 Trumpy motor that's going in my Trackmaster on Sunday....... I can't wait ;D

Finally got to do a bit more work on the RD. Tacked in the backbone and the seat loop.

Sat the ratty old XR copy seat that I had and the brand new Knight style tank (many thanks to Firko) and it doesn't look too bad. The tank isn't the best fit so I might make an alloy one later if time permits.

Still need to gusset the steering head and then finish removing all the redundant frame brackets and make up brackets for the rear shocks, coils, footrests, number plates, tank, seat etc. Once that's done the pipes will need to be made, then the engine can be pulled down and rebuilt.

Mate, that is going to look great. I've been following this build and you sure have great vision and skills.
Regards    Mark
ps. can't wait to see it with the engine and pipes in place.

Thanks Mark. I've always loved the look of flat track bikes, they look fast just sitting there. Almost as good as a slider  ;)

Nice tank Petey. It's finally found a home where it looks good. It's all about style ;D. Try and keep next Easter free so we can take all of the flat track tackle down to the Broadford Bonanza. I can be cutting laps that little RD masterpiece while you're coming to grips with 'Vegas Bob'......(I'm turning into a Jonesy clone, naming my bikes. In this case I'm naming it after the great character that started the 750 resto).  With my 4 flat trackers, your three and AJ an Edgar with a couple each Klub Kevlar can have a great little display and ride blowout on the great  Broadford dirt track.

Sounds like a plan Mark. It'll take me that long to get it finished at the rate I'm going. :(
Thanks again for the tank. It appears a little big in that photo, but looks alright in the flesh. Proper bars instead of the low set that are on it will improve things.

It's a Knight tank but it's got a Maico feel about it in the photos. I reckon it looks sensational.
