A Deltek grassgrub with a victa lawnmower engine in about '73, rode the thing to death every day after school then got a TM75 and started racing in the gold coast minibike club. That track is now a canal estate behind pacific fair.

Honda CB 250 CB72. Dad actually forked out the $50.00 for it & we bought it home in many boxes. I was about 15 at the time bit I think i was 16 before I managed to assemble it in a running condition.

The mighty SL125 Honda. Mum and Dad payed $100 for it. We were biker kings of the block, the kids over the road only had a XL100. Darcy  :)

Bridgestone 100 with a piece of rope tied to the rear brake. Had to take hand off the throttle and then grab the rope and pull on it to get the brake to work. Tended to crash a lot in the early years.

First time on bike ever, absolutely no tuition (zero, zip, ziltch) was on a Triumph Saint 650, on the tar roads around Parramatta Park aged 15.

Still remember learning to 'lean' rather than 'steer the handlebars' at 60kph with on coming cars on a sweeping left hander.:o ::) ;D

Its called 'been thrown into the deep end' - what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger  ;D.

first bike I personally ever bought was my RM80B. Superceeded $499 and I mowed God knows how many lawns at $2 a go for a year to save for it. I still fell $100 short and the C had been released by then but mum and dad came to the party to make my dream a reality ;) Hence I still have the little beast as it's the only dream to date that has ever come to fruition and I won't ever be selling it ;)

I know how you feel about that little RM80b Doc. I've still got my Maico I bought new in 1970 and as much as we know that bikes and cars are inanimate object without a soul, there's a special feeling that comes from owning something for so long that causes us to almost regard them as a part of the family. I doubt that I'll ever sell that Maico or my Jag for that reason.

Doc, you still have your first bike? That's Gold 8)!
Is it a full resto bling-mobile parked on top of the telly or is it still a rider?

MX250, you reminded me I was given no tuition either.
I still recall my first ever prang was a result of pulling in the front brake instead of the clutch travelling in 3rd gear :-[.

yep agree with both Doc and Firko. i had one of those RM80B's Doc and it was a great bike. i advertised it for sale when i stepped up to my YZ125D and some scum queen stole it. i got it back but it was rooted and the thief was never charged as he was a minor (more  like a major prick).

i too have a bike i have kept for years my 86' CR250 got it off my mate late 86' and still have it to this day, its a keeper.

Wombat, yup same bike 30 years on. Not quite as nice as the day she arrived but it's had more than it's share of being flogged mercilessly over many years and it was the king of the local tracks :D like all my bikes it's not a 100 point resto but she's 100 percentage point fresh on the inside and not at all scared to get it dirty if I feel the need ;)

this bike, the TM75, RM80Z and JR50 are all up here with me simply because I need the space in the garage not because they are above being ridden  ;)

Hoony..for what they were I reckon they were the pick of the bunch in 77 although I gave the new at the time 5 speed XR75's some serious thought, I didn't like the yz80 even though it was the right colour. They didn't 'sound' right or as responsive and it didn't seem quite the complete thing the RM was but more of a factory hotted GTMX80. They all went well but the Gaston Rahier RM80 advertisment in '77 got me hook line and sinker ;)
