What did you learn on ?
« on: April 08, 2008, 11:15:40 pm »
Banging on elsewhere about my first bikes made me stop and think 'What was the bike I first rode successfully?" Dare I say it... A Honda 50cc pushrod stepthru... age just turned 7 year 1964...Shit am I smiling to myself right now or what. Cheers Tim
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

well it was late sixties on a Grasshopper, victa motor i think. with 4 brothers it lasted about 2 weeks and we moved up to a Honda 50 step thru, by the time i was 12 we must of had about 20 different bikes , including bsa's and triumphs, throwaway bikes from dad, they only lasted so long because they were used on the beach from Noosa to Fraser for beachworming. That's where the worms tag comes from.

Cheers Trev ;D

An old Douglas Vespa scooter wth the gear linkages on the left hand bar, 5 years old at the time (1967) and i reckon that first foray into bikes has a lot to answer for ;) Could not remember everybike owned since then but that first one sticks in the mind,

My first ever ride was on a qa50, i was 7 or 8. It was at a place that hired out bikes in the Sydney area. My dad seems to recall Lucas Heights, near a nuclear plant of some sort he seems to think.

1974 CR125M, second hand. 14 years old and worked all the Christmas & school holidays for two years to save the money. Then I couldn't get anyone to pick it up for me, so I walked the 8klm to where it was, and pushed it 8klms back home. That was in 1976 and I think I paid $400.00. The clutch was slipping a bit when I got it but I didn't know any better at the time. I got a little shock after the clutch fried itself completely, and got it fixed!
Cheers,
K
