Puch 50 (which probably still has a piece of my big toe in the gearbox) --- honda 50 4T(death trap on road tyres) --- Yammy GT50 --- DT100C---DT125---IT175----Maico490---IT465---IZ465---Kato495

First ride was in 1974 on my elder brother's Yamaha DT100A.

Rode it into the frontend of a Ford XB stationwagon on 9th May 1975 (no licence). Result = 1 x break in the right leg, 3 x breaks in the left, 200 odd stitches in the face, 5 month rehab and a severe reprimand from the local police sargent.

What remains of the bike is still in the shed at my mum's place.

Honda Mini trail sent me into a 44 gallon drum in 2 seconds flat so thats not a success unless you stay on for 8 seconds  and dont lose your hat.

Lost a lot of skin on a Victa powered grass grub which I also blame for my distaste of left hand corners for many years( 10" tyres 9.5" sprocket)

Mates Grey XR70, fun little bike that, actually had suspension.

Then my first bike,  a russian tank called a Voskhod 175 roadie that took me two years to decipher what the hell ??????? ment so i knew what to call it cept for bloody heavy russian heap of crap.

Two step learning process:

Step 1: 1984 ATC125M. Yes, one of those god-awful trikes, with no suspension and a 125cc version of the old CT110 engine.

Step 2: Anything of my friends' bikes that I could 'swap' a ride on.... Mostly either a Z50 (an 83 model and a much earlier, yellow one with a solid rear end) or an XL75. And then an SL70.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

A '74 YZ100 at Hungry Creek [for one day].

And then an Ex-Betric Racing RM125C - the first of many.

I thought the YZ was OK until I rode the RM, what a difference. No more Thermal Flows for this little black duck.
WoooHooo!!!
Those were the days.

A second hand Yamaha YZ80B on Anzac Day 1976.
Dad put up the $250 and I had to pay back half.
Learnt to ride up the local park before venturing to bush tracks at 'the Rocks' behind Trinder Park and 'the Quarry' on Compton Rd in an area now called Calamvale.

Yamaha GT80MX in 1975. Yellow with the black trim. Nearly as good as the YZ80 I really wanted. I had some old test of the YZ80 that was nearly impossible to read through drool stains. First ride on the GT and I spat the dummy - heap of shite stopped after a few minutes. Turns out you gotta turn the fuel tap on...

Bloody great fun. Altho... Eno's night sounds like it coulda been even more so.
