Bsa bike looks like it is using either a Pe or Rm frame 1980 /81 and running gear

One Clew  ;D is the way the motor is rammed hard up against the front down tube, seems B50 is longer than PE400. Not like any frame CCM built.

9 grand makes it about $7000 over priced, assuming the B50MX motor is in good shape. The final insult to 74 CCMs everywhere is that exhaust with the end sticking up like a gay MP in a boy scout camp. ;)

I wouldn't be touching anything from the portals of that particular motorcycling emporium, the owner is a liberal dispenser of cow droppings and he has been flogging overpriced pommy stuff for years, and getting away with it.
I know of three would-be purchasers with a clue who have travelled big distances to visit there only to walk out shaking their heads : at least it gave them a few ripping yarns for club nights.  :D
Nostalgia's not what it used to be....

its an 'enthusiast' market and the sellers of pommy bikes, frames and performance engine parts etc are very enthusiastic about their pricing.

However I must admit I have recieved very good service from Rickman, PES ( CCM Britain ) and Unity Equip, I think there is a kind of new wave of companies who have turned a corner and have realised that they are sitting on a goldmine if they keep it real on price and service/

That bike lives in my shed.

It is a rather special bike for CCM (and scrambles in general) and marks the ending of one era and the start of another.

Anyone know why......?

Hi Alison
My 73 CCM (frame No 97)is the yellow -Usual color for 1974 is duck egg blue for the std and White for the GP replicas

With the number or Oiginal and replicas in WA now We should look at celerating the 40 year anniversary at one of the VMXWA events this year.-Perhaps incorperated into Wandering?
May be able to push Peter to finish the 72 Stroka (frame No 21)

Cheers
dave

1973 SP
I am guessing Ben's bike is SP2 (maybe) out of the 3 experimental bikes built towards the end of 73.
Each one moved up a notch on suspension travel, and therefore ended one era and moved into the next as Ben said.
Just a shame you don't bring it out more often  ;D

cause if he did bring it out more # 1 and # 3 may also come out of hiding and then I'd have more CCM photos to flash around on OZVMX ,oh and circa74   ;D  ;D

Ian wins!  Go straight to the top of the class!

The SP series of bikes were CCM's first go at changing frame geomteries and trying to introduce more travel.

It was the end of the traditional 4 inches of movement at the back end and 6 inches of movement at the front end and the start of the longer travel era.

In my book that makes it historically significant as it marks the end of one era and the start of another.

.......................

The bike is a feather weight (anything is light compared to what I usually ride!!!!)  Jimmy told me at one meeting they weighed it several times as they couldnt believe the scales.  It was lighter than the works Suzukis!

Your on  ;D  2013 is the plan, though I better get the newer version of Rolling Thunder to scratch up on my CCM knowledge.  :P
I have the first publication, but feel so much more is probably missing.
No mention of the SP bikes above that flower pot has,it just mentions the step to 9 1/2 in the suspension,And then the overseas trip the team took.

If you look really carefuly in the original book, there is a picture or two of what I am sure is SP3. You can tell because the side panels are different.
Sound like a bloody anorak don't I......... shhh .... no coments  ;D
See if you can find the page. There are two 73 bikes, one is, one isn't.

You can be as anorak as you like -- its a vmx forum  ;D
Since I don't have a live CCM within a 200km radius of me,and I've only just been acknowledging CCM's in the last 12 months or so,I really cant see the differents with out a tape measure and a SP in hand. Also this Rolling Thunder early version book doesnt have enough discription for the pic.....so in other words...be buggered if I know  :D
ps As a difference- I'd be banking on Big John.
