I did.. not a problem if you buy right and do the work yourself. The bike was $1500 with the Ohlins, i bought the parts and rebuilt the engine and bought the GMC pipe and a set of plastics from Nightmare racing. ;)

John,
Is your 500 the one that was for sale in the North West area of Victoria about 18 months 2 years ago?
I remember one on e-bay around this area that had an Ohlins shock and the seller wasn't all that aware of the rear shock.

Yeah Rod it came from down that way somewhere and it had the ohlins which made up my mind to buy it.
It looked like a piece of shite, the motor was blown up and in pieces and the plastics were stuffed.

For Palooka Ted.. Yes it looked like your 465, maybe worse. It owes me less than $5000.. do i need to make you a list of expenses?

I was unable to find a pic of my KX500 but here are some pics of the parts I scored recently at Goulburn swap meet.

I was able to find a few bits that mine was missing like the kick starter lever and gear lever. The pipe is in pretty good condition. Mine has had the backyard repair job.

It has some minor cracks at the top but very usable.
