Speaking of Manx decided my rather cool 56 pre unit motor and AMC box was too good to waste in a Rickman so this is the direction I am going.

Flower Pot Racing sent me some shots of him racing his Goldie at Beauval in France. As well as the Goldy he's got some genuinely tasty stuff like the CCM shown below.

Anyone who would run a genuine Goldie 500 that is putting out good hp would be nuts to run a standard conrod and or standard crankpin set these days.
As a destroyer of several sets of good goldie 8 web crankcases in the '60s I speak with authourity on this!
dont follow me i'm probably off line!

But, if some one is saying it is something when it clearly isn’t (ie getting more money for it on the basis that it is a particular model etc etc) and intentionally not telling the truth, then that is not correct.  From what you have said this is not the case.  If you are happy with the bike and happy to pay the price, then get it.
Thanks for your input on this subject.  :)
In this case its all good, but there are those out in the vmx world who continue to add the big price label and sell bikes to unsuspecting buyers.  :(
The buyer buying for all kinds of reasons ,one as you stated ie:if it is quick, looks good & sounds great then I am happy. Also the seller himself may not be aware of the parts being replica etc.
I suppose we can't do much about these sellers though and some will continue to sell till days end.
I have questioned some sellers on bikes originalty and price tag while putting in an offer on a purchase.Suppose this should be chalked up as sales etiquette and perhaps just say nothing ?
cheers A

Dare I ask what it is you have been offered and perhaps more importantly what they are asking for it as this might put things into perspective as maybe this is the biggest issue for you (?)

I know of a beautiful Goldie in the UK that is for sale.  An original (albeit refined) stunning scrambler with all the right bits, rebuilt and ready to race.  I think it was £10k or £14K, cant remember (cheap as chips when you look at that CCM that sold the other day on OZ needing work....!)  I know the chap who built it and he does very nice work.  It was on UK ebay a few weeks ago, I dare say you saw it..... not sure if it is still for sale.  I can ask.

What do you want to do with it?  Put it in a collection or race it?  I think you would enjoy racing one that is 'sorted' and ready to go rather than wobbling round on an old original dinosaur with indifferent suspension etc.  If you are a quick rider then then you could start damaging the bike which really wont help it's value (if that is your concern)

Ultimately it's your money and I guess if you are talking Goldstars it isnt pocket money.  If you are happy to pay the price then it must be worth it.  I am sensing that you are not sure and there is doubt.  So perhaps listen to your head and wait for the next one.  There will be others.....

Alison,  it seems to me by the tone of your post that you think that a replica is somehow inferior or dodgy.
Not at all.Steven and my question was answered back before about the cases.
Then I replied by adding simply that some sellers are not being honest with the buyers. ..Its all about knowledge which some buyers/sellers dont have (not in our case)..Thankfully us lot have you lot  ;D  to let us know other wise.
Hope that clears it up a bit-really needs to be discussed by the camp fire.
But  ::)   ;D  if you have a Norton Commando SS with out the SS bits it aint a NC SS.  ;)  cheers Alison

Its at a very good price, and is it not better than shares, superanuation and it will hold its value.
Some of the reason we asked the questions.
Me,Myself and I are 100% sure and have no doubt.
It'll be riden/raced whatever I put in the shed. 8)
cheers Alison

Its specialist market where most people involved are quite well set up and they charge accordingly.
On some very nice items indeed  8) the news page  :P

Is the brake a Grimeca 4ls perhaps? It's hard to tell but the shocks look like they may be Hagons.
That's indeed a nice Triton Marc.

Rather suspect if it was a Grimeca, there'd be evidence of some form of linkage on this side, Firko... ;)
