My way of dealing with a scammer
« on: December 17, 2010, 02:05:32 am »
After posting last week for PE250T parts,I received an email from a guy in the UK saying he had parts for my PE and that he was Breaking a bike for sale of parts.
I casually took the email as.....cool but too far for my liking and politely replied back asking what he had.
Then i got i got another email with a photo attached of the bike he was wrecking for parts.
Here is the bike  ;D

Now here are the photos of my bike i posted up in the Suzuki section last week.  :)

Ok i thought its time to play with this prick.
These are the emails we exchanged.....pull up a seat and enjoy  :D

12/12/10
Hi. Still looking for the item(s) as requested?.....Mine is in very good
condition. Let me know.

Location: UK
Contact: Rupert on...
Email: [email protected]

12/12/10
Hi Rupert,
Yeah just checking who has excess left over PE250T parts that i'm interested in.
Mainly plastics but anything else considered as i have a bad habit of keeping spares.
cheers...mario

PS...are you really in the UK?  :-)

13/12/10
Hi Mario,

I have a complete PE250T that am breaking for parts. Please see
attached also email me a complete list of parts that you are looking
to buy.

Thanks,

Rupert.

13/12/10
Hi Rupert,
Is that the pic of the bike that you are breaking for parts?
I am after the engine and rear shocks plus the exhaust.
Also chasing the plastics and headlight.
How much are you asking inc postage.
cheers....mario

14/12/10
Yes, that's the pic of my bike that am breaking for parts. I am asking
430GBP for the  engine, rear shocks, exhaust, and complete plastics
and headlight as well. My price includes shipping. Let me know on price
and also email me your complete shipping address.

14/12/10
Hi Rupert,
Do you have the side covers and headlight as they are not on the bike in the
pic, mind you i keep mine aside incase i damage them and use aftermarket.
The engine i'll take,as your barrel fins and head fins are intact and mine
are broken. The barrel and head alone here in Oz would cost more than your
engine.
Does the engine have good compression and spark?
Is the exhaust header in good condition? They are usually banged up from
hitting rocks and so on.
The rear shocks need to be in good condition (no leaks)as the airline
companies frown upon oil leaks and class them as dangerous goods.
Just want to confirm that the above parts are ok and then i need your
details on how you want to be paid...ie mastercard, paypal, direct bank
transfer etc.
Thanks again Rupert, you have been a great help as i really want to get my PE
ready for our Vinduro in february.
I heard a rumour that the 2010 world Enduro champ, englishman rider David Knight
may be a secret guest!
Might see if i can get him to ride my bike and compare his 2010 KTM to my
1980 PE250T...lol
Anyway...thanks for your help Rupert and lets get it going....as they say
"time is money".....you need the money and i'm running out of time!
cheers....Mario

15/12/10
Yes, I have the side covers and headlights in good condition. My
engine has a good compression and spark as well as the exhaust header,
rear shocks etc are all in excellent shape and condition.  I shall
accept payment via Western union or Money gram. Let me know and also
email me your complete shipping address so I can make shipping
arrangements.

Thanks,

Rupert.

15/12/10
Hi Rupert,
Great! I really needed the plastics and that headlight is IMPOSSIBLE to find
and have been pulling BIG dollars on Ebay.
What other details do you need.
I've never delt with Western Union or money gram.
I'll try western first and see if that goes through for you!
I need your details so i can organise it straight away.
Find out a time frame of delivery and a tracking number if possible.

My details are...

Hi Rupert,
My ISP was down last night, but will try the transfer again soon.
All parts ready to go?
I forgot to mention if you have the rear brake pedal as well, mine is bent
beyond repair.
I think the pic of your bike still has one on it,if the steel rod for the
brake is straight i'll take that too.
Let me know the difference and i'll add it to the transfer.
cheers....mario

If you can't semd the payment online, you could go to a western union
outlet to get the payment sent.

16/12/10
After sending Graeme-OzVMX guru a message about this prick,i said that i would
post these emails up and making sure that he wasn't a member here.
I also sent a message to Western Union Aust and the UK HQ's letting them know of the scumbag.

16/12/10
Hi Rupert,
Problem was at Western Union Site as too many
over the net transfers and the server couldn't handle it.
Payment made in person.
All they asked for was senders name and amount.
Its up to you on your side to do the pick up as there might be server hassle
on your side.
Don't forget the tracking # for me .
cheers....mario

16/12/10
Without the mtcn I can't confirm payment.

I think he is starting to get a little pissed off now  ;D

My final reply to him tonight!

Hows it going Rupert! Ya dumb C@#T!
I'm flattered that you have a bike that you are breaking for parts that is actually MY bike.
YES MY BIKE!!
Its' amazing how you could pull my bike apart and have it ready for me thousands of kilometres
away.
All the parts that i need, are they ready for me?
Infact, here are the parts that i have and strangely you have too.

So how would you like to pay me?

I tell you what, have those parts ready for me and i'll send Ricky Ponting and the
rest of our lame cricket team over.
After a few batting lessons from your cricket team,be prepared as they WILL be using
your face as the f#cking ball.

Pack up my bike parts and make sure that its addressed to the Australian Cricket Team.
C/O Qantas Airlines.
My good buddy Ricky and the team will deliver it back to Australia,
first class...it must be first class as every Suzuki PE model and the RM model deserves
to be transported IN STYLE.

Meanwhile,as you are picking your teeth up off the ground, the authoritah (picture Cartman on Sth Park)
Hang on!!! You can't see at all you stupid dirty filthy f#ck,because of your battered face.
Ha ha BATtered face (a cricket joke) the cops have been tracking these emails i gave them, and you'll will be getting
a visit very soon from them.

Anyway I have to go as i just heard that Warnie has been riding your stunning Liz!
Not queen Lizzie you stupid low life fork head....Liz Hurley.
Its a tough choice in life you know....riding the trusty PE250 or riding Liz.
Liz looks great now,but in 20 years time she'll be a wrinkled prune, but the PE175,250,400
gets better with age and will make you money, not Liz,she's HIGH maintanance...the PE...LOW

Enjoy your X-mas Rupert (what was your mother thinking?)actually she yelled out your name
while i was on top of her the other night holding her long hair like the handlebars on my PE250.
No hurry on the parts from MY bike as the feb Vinduro guest rider is the HOFF...
Michael Knight from The Knight Rider,
NOT the rider,David Knight....how could i get that wrong??

P.S  I'm still chasing a pair of side covers and that headlight.
Keep an eye out for me will ya low life money grabbing aids infested C@#T!
Hold tight to that soap in jail.....you do use soap don't you?

Cheers Mario.

Leith,i remember you mentioning the name Rupert a while ago and that clicked straight away, plus dealing with UK delivery puts me off most of the time.
But to use a pic of my own bike kinda  ::) convinced me SCAM!!!
What a dickhead  ;D
I've had a couple of good replies from 2 people in Perth for parts, but postage prices seem to be getting dearer everytime i go to austpost as Perth people miss out on good sales.

Michael, there are all kinds out there trying to prey on people, especially this time of year and prefer dealing with people on here.
I'm in no rush to finish the PE,just grazing around for parts, but whatever spare time i have I tinker in the shed.

NGk...maybe i should email Rupert about the 4 missing leaves that i need ;D
cheers...mario

LOL....good one Lozza.
It got to the stage yesterday that i was looking for a fake transaction # to send him,but i had prepared my last speech the night before and just could not be stuffed replying to him anymore.
I did email Western union both here and the UK.....no replies of course.
Alison i could have used much nicer words ;) but this is a family site ;D
The c word is still too nice to describe him.
My fun for the week.

Interesting read.
Just goes to show.......I guess people can get a little blase about sending off money to far flung places expecting things to work out OK. Lucky for you (and stupidly of Rupert) that he used your own bike as bait.

PS. If you still need those parts let me know. I probably have what you need.
I've attached a pic of a PE that I'm about to break:  ;D

 ;D lol ;D @MX?
True about sending money and hopefully trust is what most if not all VMXers want in each other.
But as they say...money talks.
I couldn't do it to anyone, let alone people on here.

I'm looking for an '74 XL250 pic that i can send to you when you need parts ;)

I have never heard from this Rubert guy till last week. Another one to look out for Zamora Allen.

They dont all ask for western union though. The ones that tried to do me said they would take paypal. Usually the stuff im after is hard to get and rare anyway so i know when i ask to see a photo they probably wont reply. The one i got ask week was for a magura throttle which is real hard to get so i knew when i asked for a photo i would not get a reply as i knew it would be hard for him to find a photo of the correct one.

Also another clue its a scam is when they say they will 'organise their shipping company to collect the goods from you'

The biggest give away is when they copy and past in your full wanted add or the first few sentences in the subject. Thats alarm bells straight away. Also you can tell by their language and how good their english is. I know some european guys from Germany, France, italy and scandinavia etc sometimes dont have real good english but i can differentiate between those that have poor english but are legitimate and the ones doing the scams which are usally from african, middle eastern or asian countries. Maybe others cant tell but i can. Usually there are a lot more other dead give aways its a scam well before you get to the point of assessing their level of english though.

I would love to string these scamers along but i dont have time.

Is that the real Leith? ;D :D

There is a scam the scammer work around with the 'I'll organise the shipping bit' this is from young Jeram

Quote
there are ways to beat the scammers at their own games

the reason they can claim they bike isnt delivered is because you've made a big mistake!
you've released the bike to an unregisted courier company.

in the terms and conditions of paypal it states that you must used registered, trackable postage with signature at departure and arrival.

this is the loop hole the catch you on.

the way you catch the scammers is as follows:

sell the bike to them,
collect the money
dump it straight into your bank account and take it out as cash as soon as possible.
organise for there courier to pick up the bike.
do not release the bike to the courier unless it is the company stated by the buyer, and it is a registered courier service..
they will not send an official courier, and they cannot claim for a refund because you have forfilled your duties as a responsible seller.

and If you definitely want to put a nail in there coffin, do not release the bike untill 5days after money has cleared... this means they have to go through the normal mediated paypal dispute where you can argue your case and win if they still want to dispute it.

if you do you research, it is very easy to scam the scammer...
I suggest you research it yourself though incase Iv missed any steps...
a mate on the 125ccsportsbike forums did this, he got to keep his mito and the cash!
