Sorry Mick, I have been completely consistent. And I am not a drinker… which is probably part of the problem!  ;)

I'm quite interested in the period around the time of the Honda buyout of Montesa as it relates to Honda and Montesa trials bikes.
It must have been a strange thing to have the continuation of local development of the Montesas alongside what was happening with the works Hondas of the time. Honda being so focussed on making world-beating 4 stroke (works) bikes, but not selling anything to the public, while Montesa continued with incremental development of their two stroke production bikes.

Thankyou VMX42 for your indepth critique of the Montesa brands failures if only you had been a consultant at the time :P. I am not going to try and have an 'adult' discussion about it because

1) You are not going to change your position and only posted as a bait (I red the posts).

2) Basically as you say you are entitled to your opinion and equally I am entitled to give it no value and it will not change the true facts.

I am sure we would all be rivetted by your witty, comprehensive, intimate and unbiased  knowledge of the failures of Maico, Bultaco, Ossa, Triumph, BSA, Bridgestone, Norton, Husqvarna (as the Swedish brand) and Greeves along with dozens of other once great and respected brands. All Euro trash. Please enlighten us.

…you say you are entitled to your opinion and equally I am entitled to give it no value and it will not change the true facts.

That's the way a forum works, I would expect nothing less.

You seem to have a problem with me offering comments that you disagree with [as is your right], but you offer no comment on the foul and abusive language offered forth by way of a defence for daring to enter the hallowed Montesa forum uninvited.  Had one of the Montesa faithful simply pointed out my mistakes all of this vitriol would have been avoided - or was that too much to expect?

And just as an aside, I am more than happy to change my opinion - educate me…, give me the facts. I'm all ears and awaiting your response. You probably don't believe me, and think I am just taking the piss, but you would be wrong.

Hmm were you around in the 1970's riding montesa i was and they were not heaps of s--- as you say, also i suggest you read up a bit more on difficulties in spain re montesa/bultaco/ossa it might enlighten you on political issues to do with these makes.I find it very sad that all of this has come from one piece of montesa history that someone thought other people might want to share.I did put the first reply on that thread but did not see the others so can not comment further.I think everyone should now draw a line under this subject and enjoy there preferred make/s of bike.Oh and in 37/8/9 years of racing i could slag most makes of bikes off including montesa but you have to ask yourself WHY.

Oh man, dont you guys know a piss take, when you read one.....
I was far too young in the late 1970's to remember them, let alone give a shit now.
Toughen up ladies,race/ride your old Spanish iron, and enjoy them.
Each to their own I say.

But for F*CKS SAKE GROW A THICK SKIN!!!!!!
Seriously,if you reallly do get upset by people bagging your bikes, you need to get a life.

Now the other stuff you were sprouting was what comes normal from a guy who knows little and is trying desperatly to impress his mates.....

But this bit above is threatening violence. Now that is naughty and I'm afraid to say I'm not gunna let that go through to the keeper.
We'll catch up somewhere numb-nuts ;D
