Your whole theary that "they went out of business so they must have had a poor product" is like saying "the Germans lost the second World War so they must have had bad Armies"......
When you put forward some fact as to why their bikes were poorly designed, I'll offer an unequivical appology. Until then.......
You had the 'forum' to dispute what I said, but you chose to delete it. You could have come back and joined in a light hearted adult discussion and shared your obvious Montesa knowledge, but instead you took your 'bat and ball' and deleted the thread. You could have left the thread intact and allowed the world to see, what you believe were, my obvious transgressions and lack of respect to the once mighty Montesa, but again you prefer to tell everybody I was out of line
after you have removed the proof.
There was nothing in either of my contributions to your thread that was in any way personal or derogatory towards you, or even your beloved brand. You obviously don't agree, but instead of offering a considered response and furthering my Montesa education you simply resorted to foul and abusive language.
Yes, I believe what I said was true. I wasn't having a 'dig' or picking at a scab to annoy you, though I obviously have - you might not have noticed but this is
a public forum [try looking up that word in the dictionary] and as such people are permitted to offer their opinions without first seeking your permission.
It obviously annoys you that Montesa went to the wall. You probably aren't pleased that Honda only bought the factory to get around government protectionism and establish a production facility in Western Europe - you were probably under the impression that they purchased the company to obtain access to all of the ground breaking innovations hidden in the engineering department.
They were a good solid, European manufacturer. But unfortunately at that time that wasn't enough to garner continued support from the marketplace. As I offered in my post - it wasn't necessarily their fault - but they didn't keep up. They didn't refinance, retool, redesign and move into to 20th manufacturing processes like Ferrari did to with stand the Japanese onslaught - they instead [like most of their Euro brothers] traded on their once good name and the punters said
it wasn't enough.
If that summary offends you, then I am sorry. If I am wrong then please correct me [without the swearing and agro]… or you can simply
'Maintain the rage'. The choice is yours.
