WooHoo, I got me a YZ125X!
« on: January 11, 2008, 08:47:21 AM »
Thanks to Snowy76, I am now the proud but somewhat dubious owner of a rough, incomplete 125X :)

(Happy now DJR? ;) My wife isn't, but the t).

Questions:
1. Rear hub - A/C type or D/E/F type? The difference is the spacing between the sprocket and the spokes.
2. Wheel rims - external lip (like a C) or no (like a D)?
3. What size carby? Are they they same as a D/E carby?
4. Are the front hubs the early type with the little webs between the non-brake-side spokes, or the later type without?

Looking for a proper X barrel and head, rather than the DT parts that are currently fitted...
And race-spec plastics.
And a fuel tank (bloody HL500 replicas, grumble grizzle...).
A rear wheel would be nice too.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Hi Nathan, i have a few parts for an x. I have a frame, swing arm and shock, very nice pipe and a rear wheel that has the dished rear sprocket. I have an mx125B with a dished sprocket but dont know if the x had one. I sold the tank with a HL replica lot of parts  ::) I will look for a head and barrel as well. The x i just sold was very original and had normal rims. Here is a photo to compare.Sorry about the crap quality! PS muffler is incorrect.

WooHoo Nathan,

You will love the X model Nathan, they are such a cool little bike.

The rear rim is the same as the D-E model

The front hub is the same as the C model

The rear hub is out on its own Nathan, but I will measure my one up because I believe a C or a D will fit.

The carb for the X is a 34mm.

If you dont want Brad X pipe I will be glad to buy it of him though.

Didn't bother in the end. Woulda been nice, but the arse-fork for both of us + finding the money + heat from my usually very patient wife (after I dragged 4 bikes back from Snowy's place yesterday)... I just figured 'stuff it' and let it go.
Thanks for your offer to help though. :)
If anyone reading this just spent $197 on early 80s YZ125 bits, then they should contact me if they want to sell off some of the bits.

Looks like YZ360A is gonna sort me out with most of the parts I need. :) Brad is not yet off the hook though... :)

DJR is welcome to Brad's pipe: One of the good things about my bike is the pipe. Funnily enough, the bike had been sitting in the open, in a coastal environment for years, and yet the pipe and forks are still quite good.

The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Nathan if you plan to use the fork cannisters I have some brand new ones, let me know. By the way, the YZ100C is a very similar bike to the 125X. They share allot of parts.

He was multi-mount.com.au on the old forum, haven't seen him post on the new forum (I know he still reads it though).

Wow, very nice. Wish I had some spare cash to bid on that. I had an X a few years ago, picked it up as a rolling chassis for $25 from the local tip. Managed to scrounge up enough parts to build it then went and sold it to a local to raise money for my HL500... Wish I hadn't.

Sure is a nice collection of parts to go with this one. I'll watch the bidding with interest.
