That's a fairly original VA. I don't think the guards are original. It will be interesting to see what it goes for.
Stan, if you couldn't keep big ends in the 250 the 360 would be no better - it's the same bottom end as far as I know. Unless you were wringing it's neck to get the last drop of performance. I would surmise that it was a ported motor. Monties , and euro MXers, were renowned for bottom end and mid range to deal with deep sand, mud and tight circuits typical of Europe at the time.
Did you notice the crank mounted clutch - make a worthwhile addition to the Monty museum
