Stan,
I had a VA 360. (still have it!) When I had problems with the crank mounted clutch,
I yanked the motor out (until the fix came thru) and installed a 250, that I raced for almost 6
months. Never had any problems with the big ends. We set them up stock by the book. We used
Belray oil mixed at 32 to 1. I worked at the Montesa dealer for five years and I cannot recall any
bigend failures in all that time! If the rod was not centered correctly or the piston shims were not
correct, the rod could shift to the right or left and catch the edge of the crankwheel and then all hell
could break loose! but that is something we alway's checked carefully when rebuilding.
