Your right these were quite rare even in their day, well cetainly in Victoria anyway. I did have one for a while and I also had a 250 of the same year 76 I think. The 250 was very fast but couldn't keep big ends in it. The 360 was a nice bike to ride. Come to think of it I won a 3 hour pony express at Ballarat on it.

Yeah. It looks like a VA ('75). 465 produced and the few that I've seen have been in pretty cond. I reckon' they're as sexy as hell!

That's a fairly original VA. I don't think the guards are original. It will be interesting to see what it goes for.

Stan, if you couldn't keep big ends in the 250 the 360 would be no better - it's the same bottom end as far as I know. Unless you were wringing it's neck to get the last drop of performance. I would surmise that it was a ported motor. Monties , and euro MXers, were renowned for bottom end and mid range to deal with deep sand, mud and tight circuits typical of Europe at the time.

Did you notice the crank mounted clutch - make a worthwhile addition to the Monty museum ;) ;D.

Gday Graeme, the 250 I had was a 76 model and the 360 was a 75 model. The 76 250 were rare here in Victoria as I never saw another one after Lyall got the one for me. It used to do a big end if not every meeting well every other at least. But It was very fast std. There was no porting done that I could remember but Lyall always looked after the motor  as part of the sponsorship deal. I tried to race the big bikes on it all year but only did well when it actually finished a race.

Like the pic Stan. I've got a lot of material together for the site but like a lot of things, these things happen in spurts. It will jast 'appear' one day (the site).  ;)

Look forward to the new site. That pic is me ready to ride Mark Christians VB, Peter Christian on Clyde Tuckers YZ and Mark Christian beside him then Guy Lampard on a Bultaco Mk 9. I think Clyde Tucker out of shot was riding Peters VB.
