just been talking to Gary Chasemore and he informed me that he raced at Griffith at least 1/2 doz. times. Sorry, my mistake.  Harrimans girlfriend was Jenny??? Blonde, petite and all things nice :)Foss, that all white slider may have been in one of my earlier photos,(big boys at play)#217. We used to stay at Connies place, wonderful lady. That 250 Ossa was a really quick bike.Factory road race spec. motor. Top end power was awesome! The frame was built by Ray Owens' son in law and my Dad and bro Steve did everything else, incl. the motor.  I'll post more info on the bike later. cheers, Mark

Dead right Mark. GH's girl used to make the long drive bearable for all the Wollongong lads. Great photos mate, a lot of great memories there.

A mate of mine worked with LvP for Ad Astra Aviation, plotting and mapping remote areas of Aussie from the air, reckoned he was a good bloke but hard as nails. To his surprise though, although they'd worked together for yonks Lionel had never mentioned his speedway past, and my mate was amazed when he dropped the name in conversation and I revealed the historical significance !  :o
I was also disappointed to spot in a pommy speedway forum a while back that following Lionel's win, the bike he rode was manhandled over the fence and out of the stadium, the inference being that it may have been oversize. If this was indeed so, I'd reckon it wouldn't have been the only one out there... :-[
Nostalgia's not what it used to be....

That's really sad, Pete. We certainly meant no disrespect.
