I wouldn't have picked the B&W shot for you Pete, you must have been just a pup. It sure looks like a Cole to me and it has that funny little Elstar front guard, they usually came as a package.

I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure that was me, Steve. I had Daytona boots, #12 and a Cole Elstar. I was definitely riding when Neil, Gary and Al were. I think 371 might be Ron Sumskis. Worst thing I ever did was getting rid of my 84S and getting that Cole. By the way, I think that Gary Harriman's girlfriend must have been standing in the infield to warrant all that attention.

Pete ,
I am pretty sure it is you , now,  'cos its definately a Cole Elstar, with your race number, the thing that gives it away as an Elstar , to me , are the fork gaiters, Hagons and Goddens have the same gaiters , but Elstar gaiters are longer, I'm on an Elstar in that photo and you will see my  gaiters are the same as yours but different to both Neil's Hagon and Garry's Godden , OK go back in this thread to the start shot at Yass and it's probably you not Ron Lea on the #12 Cole Elstar next to Kevin Fraser, did you have a run at Yass ??

In my opinion , Elstars had much better forks than Hagons and I preferred them as a race bike .

Hi Al,
Yep, that was me at Yass. Rode a heap of open meetings down there as well as club days - it was our clubs's home track for a lot of years. I agree with you about the Elstars being a better frame, however the Cole was a different story altogether. I have a lot of old photos from Yass, I'll try and dig them out,
Pete.

A couple of shots from the Weslake era , Kempsey 1977 or 1978 not sure

Hi Jap 454, I haven't been on for a while but just having a look, that meeting at Kempsey was the second round of the Golden Wheels series ,20 May 1979, Steve Regeling is the rider A9,also spotted the Zacher sidecar duo in the background,Ron snr and Ron Jnr in the green leathers.Thats a great shot of Pete Lee on his Green Godden Jap.( That is the same bike I own now and have ridden at the classic meetings a few years ago),Pete had a 250 yamaha in it for some time and I rebuilt it with my motor and gearbox.Great pics .Keep em coming.

With the Griffith Nats just around the corner , I thought I'd post this shot of Tony Day and myself  on turn 1 at the Pines, the shot shows the surface at Griffith well, it was taken in the late '70s cos I have me flaaash leathers on !!
