He's a good man is our Wally, a true link to Short Circuit's early days and as of last Sunday he's still riding.
Did you score a Showground book Mark?

Yeah That's better!. Every body was in awe each time Morley Shirriffs came over the top there, NOBODY got that much air in those days,( not intentionally anyhow!.
EH Holdens first appeared in '63. I worked at a Holden dealer. The date on the slide surround has faded.
Cheers pancho

I reckon 64/65. I can see a few AP5 Valiants and they came out in 64. That does look like a '65 HD under the beach umbrella and there's another on behind the red VW which is behind the grey EH van. It looks like the twin headlights of a 63ish Studebaker Lark next to it. I can remember when Kahman Ghia's were fairly common on the road...a poor mans Porsche. They get Porsche prices today though ::).

Morley's looking pretty damn stylish in the shot, I'm surprised he hasn't commented and given us a date yet.

It's a HD alright, dark green white top, probally the X2 with the 4 speed Opel gearbox, floor shift and twin Strombergs, well before carbon foot prints were invented. The front guards were known as pedestrian slicers, from memory the worst selling Holden ever.

ARCADIA,brings back memories of our three way club days,Annandale/Leichhardt,Willoughby (the tea and bikkies club) and Eastern Suburbs. Somewhere out there are the remains of my front teeth after I ran up the back of one of my mates,my mum wasn't happy.

Why tea and bikkies, our club treasurer at ALMC was a refrig mech and we served kegs from an International panel van.All you had to do was buy a ticket for 20 cents to get a beer.

The Easts club understood but the others were a bit taken aback at first but we dragged them down to our level.
For a bbq plate there were the remains of an MG TC bonnet in the pits.

It was always interesting getting home as there was a box trailer race, and dead stop corners to overshoot. Now days,no no no.

Interesting legal action and dramas in recent years over the sale of the track as it's some form of trust and houses  are nearby.
Bultaco Metralla, Matador MK 5, Montadero mk2, El Bandido model 18,plus lots of bits and two Honda XR's 250,350.

I've had a PM from a well known Mopar guy who reckons the blue/white top Valiant wagon immediately to the left of the beach umbrella is a VC which would put the photo as being taken in 1966. That could be right if you factor in that if that photo represents a 'snapshot' of the era one would have to assume that not too many people would own the very latest model, the average motorist would be driving a car at least a couple of years old or older. That Holden under the umbrella could well be an HR if indeed 1966 is the year as it doesn't seem to have those 'pedestrian slicer' mudguard extensions. The law of averages would guarantee around two brand new models amongst that cross section of cars so if that's the case I reckon it's 1966 going by the VC and HR. I love this forensic stuff ;D.
