HeHe I like the subject heading
The arm is just like mine , I was gunna ask you for a view of the pivot bolt area.
Interesting how there is a space between the bearings where as the stock arm goe's allthe way across.
Looking cool anyways.

Sorry but that is easily the 2nd ugliest swingarm i've ever seen, close behind the one on the MX250.
It looks like it was made from a meccano set..

;D ;D Yeah my mate said he 'wouldn't build a bike with that swingarm", I think its cool, hell if O Mara had ridden with one you would all want it.  8)

Shocks are 16", I am sure they violate some rule or other.

Well for me, there's far more to vintage mx than how rules and eligibility tends to be viewed. I've felt for a long time this always penalizes
innovative and ground-breaking bikes that end up running at the least competitive end of their alloted era, and ignores the place of hop-up
gear by placing people in the difficult position of needing to justify the use of a swing arm here or flat-slide carb there. So when someone
wants to put a bike together, perhaps basing the whole rebuild on a trick period part, I feel this should be respected and applauded. To suggest
that a part is 'ugly' misses the whole point. We all know, now we've all partly grown up, that most of the genuine aftermarket bits and pieces of the era were
of dubious design and rarely added any real performance advantage. I for one can see not only the inevitable 'one-up-man-ship', the psychology of 'Ive got something tricker than you' that motivated many way back then as it still does today, but also the humour of all this as we look back on simpler times when we were all just that little bit more gullible, and not quite as cynical as we are today. So yeah, good on ya Marc for this one, and keep us updated,

they are parts from the period - no problem. I suppose if its a pre 78 bike then the shocks might push the travel over the class limit.

Mark, given the typical "look & feel" of the workshop and surroundings, where are you located in Japan? The plate on the truck in the background is a little hard for me to read so i can't pick up on the prefecture.

Geez Marc, now the ninja's from Suzuki are gonna come kick ya door in, flog ya and then turn you into meso soup!!!!. Why dont you fire up one of those humungus turbos in the background and melt the flucker!!!!......maybe the ninja's could straighten that arm? and then you could put chopsticks between the holes and use it as a drying stand for your nappies?. Gaston would be rolling over in his grave if he saw that swingarm!!! ;)

Cheers mate yes they were simpler times, we have Simons going on the front and Works Performance bringing up the rear.

Speaking of bring up the rear, Bill, which glasses did you choose and by the way what happened to my DG head.

Bahnsy this is Tokyo, we have 4  workshops and I was very spoilt last year and had a lot of money to spend. I got to build 4 pull out draw and stainless working palaces of workshops.

Whether we like Marcs swingarm or not is irrelevent. As long as he likes it and that it works, who gives a rats arse. One of the things that get up my nose a bit is people criticising other peoples bikes because they don't fit into their own little demographic. I don't know Marc, never met him but I sure admire his slightly left of centre slant at building a bike. He definitely doesn't follow the cookie cutter mentality when it comes to building a vintage racer. I admire the patience it takes to build a showroom standard concourse resto but I also love those who can build something that displays a bit of imagination and a willingness to try something different. Give the bloke a go for having a go. At least he's got the balls to put his bikes up for us to scrutinise, unlike many on this forum who've yet to show us what they've got. They're often the ones with the pointiest fingers and the barely hidden sniggers in their posts.
Ugly is the new black Marc...go for it matey. ;D
