Geday eveyone We (GMSC) have canned the junior support classes 65cc,85cc & 150cc as it was voted at our club meeting that this is a Classic meeting for Classic bikes only as this alone will be approximately 150 race event if all classes get sufficient entries.
Next practice day is Monday 14th June Queens Birthday weekend.
Got your pre entry thanks Wally.
Sup regs on the way to MA we have 56 rider pre entries & 138 bikes already.

Hey grasy, following on from another post i just did.     Are you planning a parde lap and the national anthem ? i reckon that made the ACT event it got the tingles going and gave it a bit of credability.

Also i know your under the pump with organising stuff, but is ther any chance you can put an area aside and get the lions club or someone help you run  a swap meet for old bikes/motoring stuff or even a show and shine , just thinking youll get more of a crowd it they have something to see , and all the non riders other otpions and reasons to come.  they can dust off the machines that no longer race but still have a chance to take home a price.
i love swap meets, hell think of all the bike trades we could be doing ? selling our old shit might even cover the fuel to get there ? ( i hear 52 has some old XL350 bits to sell from last year, slightly used or bent of course )  ;)

just a thought :O)

yes i understand what the rules say ,but i cannot find the rule for riding up a class.i do not understand that a pre75 bike can jump two classes.was the pre78 class made to stop the pre75 bikes from riding up a class as they already have cc and age classes.

it was in the sup regs for the race day at last years dirt track titles.it should be the same this year.you will have to wait till they come out. the bad thing about the pre78 is there were only 4 125s in that race non title event need 10 bikes to start 1st heat.
hope this helps now

Hi Freaky,
The Griffith Classic Bike Club will be having a show & shine at the event, but no swap meet as we & the entrants will be busy enough, anything Pete has to sell is usually scrap metal value he has a great habit of taxing all the good stuff. There will be a parade lap & the National Anthem of course to celebrate the great place where we live.

Found this start shot from Griffith in 197? , gives a good idea of what the track surface was like then and what surface the Griffith lads are aiming to have at the Championships.

L to R # 454 yours truly, #75 Mick Baran #69 Lucky Keizer, #318 Michael Cady ?? the rest I cant identify , except the inside rider I think is Ron Lea.

That's an interesting lineup..I went to school with Mick Barren, he had one of the first CCMs in Australia and still had it when de died of cancer a few years ago. I tried to buy it but even though it was in basket case condition, his family thought it was worth Manx Norton money. I don't know whatever became of it. Lucky Keizer's more famous as a drag racer but is even more well known as the fella that made a v-twin out of two cylinders of a Rolls Royce Merlin, a fascinating bloke to talk to. Mick Cady was the Aussie Dirt Track 500 champion in the late 70s and was one of the really fast racers on Maicos along with his brothers John and Greg in the first few years of VMX. He sadly quit racing VMX when his son got Leukemia.
