So the message for all us is not to retire, we need to promote and pass on our skills to the next generations.

General Discussion / Re: Any old boys still here ?

As a relative newcomer to the forum, it is great to knpw some of the forum history. I joined to gain proper information which is difficult to find. Social media sites are full of incorrect information and advice from "Knuckle heads". I believe well administeted forums are the modern day encyclopaedias with the correct information.

I see no value in expousing rubbish information and theories.

There is a Hodaka 125 which turns up to VERI Vinduro and sometimes the 250 Road Toad. Great compact bikes.

Interesting observation re scrutineering and sound levels. Some of us may remember times when there were no sound limits and no mufflers on 2 strokes.
We often did our own scrutineering in Victoria for "Chairs" as the solo guys weren't interested in us. Even now scrutineering needs some thought prior to entry.

Suzuki / Re: RL250 forks - are they 35mm or 1.3/8inch ?

Being Japanese and European the measurements should be true Metric. I wonder what tube size they started with, any machining and what thickness of hardchroming was used. Have you checked multiple tube location measurements?

Can you also measure the outside diameter of the shocks and the length of the spring required. I assume it is for a 4" travel bike?

Tech Talk / Re: CR250M inlet port height different, why?
« on: September 10, 2023, 03:55:15 pm »
I perhaps it was a way of balancing the top end with the bottom end powet. Many years ago sidecar guys ported multi cylinder 2 strokes, to produce more power on the drive side of the crank and lesser porting on middle and lesser again on the ignition side of the crank. supposedly to broarden power and teduce twisting of H1 cranks. was the go at one time, perhaps prior to cr250m!

I would always treat Facebook as a poor choice. Be it Forum, buying and can,'t think of any other possible uses. It would be my "last resort"
